Dugway lost a piece of history recently, with the demolishing of the Michael Army Airfield Air Control Tower. Built in 1955, this iconic structure stood 80 feet tall (excluding its instrumentation) with a 20-foot diameter and four floors. Equipped with radio communications and radar, it played a vital role in supporting mission activities. A 2000 report indicated the control tower was not staffed full time, but it was staffed when needed to support mission activities.
Though no longer standing, the Michael Army Airfield Air Control Tower will always remain a cherished part of Dugway’s legacy.

In observance of National Police Week (May 11–15, 2026), the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) formally recognizes the outstanding contributions and steadfast commitment of the Dugway Police and Security team.
This past year presented significant challenges for law enforcement across our installation. Navigating structural realignments, hiring freezes, furloughs, and critical staffing shortages has tested our capabilities. Despite these obstacles, our team demonstrated remarkable resilience and unwavering professionalism. Personnel consistently banded together to ensure all shifts were covered, prioritized each other’s safety, and successfully maintained the safety and security of the installation.
The Directorate is profoundly proud of every member of this team. We firmly believe that where others might have faltered under similar pressures, the DES stood strong and successfully executed the mission.
We extend our sincerest gratitude for your continued sacrifices, exemplary teamwork, and dedication to the Dugway community. Thank you for your service.
