Congratulations to our 2019 Award for Classroom Enrichment (ACE) Award recipients! Funding for these grants was made possible from the YP Trivia Night FUN-Raiser this past July. Thank you to everyone who participated to make this possible! We look forward to seeing each project come to life over the next few months!

𝗥𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿, 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹
Title of Project: The YouTube Classroom
Number of students involved: 600
Amount awarded: $200
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Not only will current students, but students from any school and community, as well as parents, tutors, and other educational organizations, will have 24-hour digital access to math and literacy lessons through a school-based YouTube channel.

Videos of teachers instructing, modeling, and demonstrating standards-based math and literacy lessons will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube for 24-hour viewing.

These videos can be used in the classroom for interventions as well as at home for additional review and practice. It will be beneficial to students who are absent from school and need to review missed lessons. Parents will also be able to view strategies for helping their students with problem-solving or reading skills at home.

Title of Project: Learn and Grow with Me Box
Number of students involved: 18
Amount awarded: $200.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Students will collaborate in preparing Learn and Grow With Me Boxes to distribute to newborn babies at Fairview Park Hospital. These boxes will include materials parents can use from birth to age 5 to prepare children for kindergarten. Boxes will include materials to teach and foster find motor skills, counting, number recognition and writing, color recognition, shape recognition and more. A set of directions, ideas, and activities will be included to guide the parents.

Title of Project: Farm to Table: How do your vegetables get to your table?
Number of students involved: 150
Amount awarded: $200
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Students will be able to participate in planting seeds appropriate for the season. Students will care for seeds by watering, fertilizing and maintaining the raised beds. Once the plants start producing, the students will harvest the produce and learn about the nutritional value of the produce. The students will learn how to cook the produce healthy. They will be able to taste the finished project.

Teachers, we want to help! YPDLC is excited to offer this new grant called the ACE Grant (Award for Classroom Enrichment) specifically for you to help provide funding for creative teaching projects for Title 1 schools within the Dublin-Laurens County area.

To apply for an ACE grant, you must complete the official application on our website and return it by 5:00 p.m. on September 6, 2019 via email at [email protected] or mail it to the YPDLC Post Office box. Click the link below for info!

Part of our mission...our “Why” if you will...of Young Professionals of Dublin - Laurens County is to enrich Dublin - Laurens County by fostering an environment of community involvement through giving back.

Tonight, many of our Board of Directors did just that by volunteering at National Night Out at the Stubbs Park Community Center to help pass out hundreds of backpacks to students of all ages.

We enjoyed supporting this event and encourage other groups and businesses to support it as well.
