❤️ National Heimlich Maneuver Day – June 1st ❤️

A simple skill can make the difference between life and death.

Today we recognize the Heimlich Maneuver, a life-saving technique used to help someone who is choking. Whether it’s a family member, friend, coworker, or even a stranger at a restaurant, knowing what to do in those critical moments can save a life.

If you’ve ever thought about learning CPR, first aid, or choking rescue techniques, National Heimlich Maneuver Day is a great reminder to take that step. Many training providers near Perry Township offer classes for residents, parents, coaches, teachers, healthcare workers, and anyone who wants to be prepared.

🐾 Future K-9 Candidate? Not So Fast! 🐾

Officer Rice was flagged down by a group of young Perry Township residents who were excited to introduce him to the newest member of their family—a very adorable puppy. 🐶

After holding the pup for a few minutes, Officer Rice jokingly informed the girls that he had decided to make the puppy Perry Township Police Department’s newest K-9.

The response was immediate and unanimous:

“NO!” 😂

Thankfully, the situation was resolved peacefully and the puppy remained with its family. Don’t let the handcuffs fool you - she requested the “silver bracelets” for the photo 😂

We love these moments that allow us to connect with the families and kids who make Perry Township such a great community.

🦌 A Little Rescue with a Happy Ending! 🦌

On May 27, Lt. Forsythe responded to an unusual visitor at Worthington Hills Elementary School—a young fawn that had wandered onto school property.

After carefully and safely securing the baby deer, Lt. Forsythe transported it to a nearby wooded area where it could be released and hopefully reunited with its momma. 🫶🏻

A big thank you to everyone who helped keep the area calm and safe while our little visitor was assisted.

This weekend, the members of the Perry Township Police Department pause to remember and honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to do so safely:
• Never drive impaired
• Buckle up
• Stay alert and avoid distractions while driving
• Watch for motorcycles, pedestrians, and cyclists
• Be patient and courteous on the roadways

From all of us at Perry Township Police Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy.

We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
