The primary function of Troopers in Troop 10 is to patrol interstates I-64, I-57, I-24, and many rural/unincorporated areas throughout the counties. In addition to normal patrol functions, ISP Troopers work throughout the Troop addressing gun and drug trafficking within local communities and on the interstates. ISP responsibilities include traffic enforcement, criminal patrol, commercial motor vehicle enforcement, and assisting the public on Illinois roadways.

๐‘๐€๐‹๐„๐ˆ๐†๐‡ โ€“ Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 Special Agents arrested 41-year-old Justin D. Maloney of Raleigh, IL, for First Degree Murder (Class M Felony) following a homicide investigation conducted at the request of the Saline County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

On May 20, 2026, shortly after 9 p.m., the Saline County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reference a residential burglary in progress at a residence on Chapel Road in Raleigh, IL. Upon arrival, Saline County deputies located a 16-year-old male gunshot victim who was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Following a thorough investigation, Justin D. Maloney was detained. On May 22, 2026, ISP Special Agents presented the case to the Illinois State's Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor Office who filed charges for three counts of First Degree Murder (Class M Felony). Maloney remains in custody at the Saline County Jail pending his first court appearance. No further information is available at this time.

๐‰๐Ž๐๐๐€ โ€“ An Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 7 homicide investigation resulted in the arrest of 76-year-old George E. Bradfield of Owensboro, Kentucky after an extensive investigation that spanned over four decades.

On March 30, 1984, the body of 26-year-old Lisa Ann Carnes was discovered in a field in rural Massac County. She died as the result of a single gunshot wound. On April 22, 2026, the Massac County Stateโ€™s Attorneyโ€™s Office charged Bradfield with five counts of Murder.

The Massac County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the Owensboro (KY) Police Department, the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit, and Parabon NanoLabs Inc., with funding from EWU Media LLC, assisted with the investigation.

๐’๐๐‘๐ˆ๐๐†๐…๐ˆ๐„๐‹๐ƒ โ€“ Illinois State Police (ISP) is now accepting applications for the three Team Illinois Youth Police Camps (TIYPC) this summer. Each week-long, overnight camp is geared towards teenagers (ages 13-17 years) and focuses on providing personal development opportunities to challenge young people to reach their full potential.

The TIYPCs are based upon a military model and attendees, or cadets, learn military drills and participate in physical fitness exercises. Cadets also attend classroom instruction on leadership development, substance abuse resistance, team building principles, and other life-enhancing skills. โ€‹ TIYPCs promote positive rapport and interactions between law enforcement and attendees. โ€‹ Other local enforcement agencies, as well as local civic organizations, have partnered with ISP to provide engagement and mentorship opportunities to develop lifelong connections with young people. โ€‹
