Today was Food Truck Friday at WWSE! Our awesome Fifth Graders have been learning about different genres of fiction. To help them understand, teachers used the analogy of food trucks! Like food trucks serve a certain audience, genres “cater” to readers in the same way. Students had to research the “ingredients” for their chosen genre and work with the theme to create a “book truck”. Peers then used the trucks to learn about different genres. Shout out to our amazing PTA for bringing Kona Ice to give all our fifth graders a fun food truck experience. 🚐🍧📚

The Maker Space is open for business! After reading “Be a Maker” by Katey Howes, these fabulous First Graders from Ms. Delacruz’s class, put the message into action. These little makers with BIG ideas imagined, created, and made something AMAZING! Shout out to our community for the creative materials donated! Keep ‘em coming!

✅As we begin 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, we want to remind our families that regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. Being at school helps students achieve greater academic achievement, build responsibility and strong time-management habits, strengthen social skills, and develop friendships.

📅 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸! Please follow the district calendar when planning family vacations and appointments so our students can make the most of every day at school.

Missing just 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 can add up to approximately 𝟭𝟮𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 over the course of a school year — the equivalent of missing about a full month of instruction!

🤠⭐️Deep in the Heart of Texas Learning! Our 4th Graders got HANDS ON with Social Studies as they explored the four regions of Texas! From industries and climate to famous landmarks and landforms, these Texans were busy investigating what makes each region of our great state unique! ⭐️🤠

Ms. Cliff's 3rd Grade Class took over the Makerspace and turned a little sculpting clay into a whole lot of creativity and engineering!

Working in teams, they planned, problem solved, collaborated, and brought their ideas to life... one squish, roll, and sculpt at a time!

Because in the WWSE Makerspace, we don’t just think about amazing ideas… we MAKE them happen!
