📢 Property Tax System Upgrade Coming Soon

For the first time in more than 20 years, the Hays County Tax Office is upgrading its property tax software to better serve Hays County taxpayers.

The transition begins Sept. 21, 2026, and full property tax services are expected to resume Oct. 13, 2026.

During the transition, online property tax payments, account lookups, balances, payment histories, tax statements and other services requiring access to property tax records will be unavailable.

💵 Need to make a payment? Property tax payments can still be made by cash or check in person at any Hays County Tax Office location or through a Tax Office drop box.

If you need property tax account information, we encourage you to obtain it before Sept. 21.

We appreciate your patience as the Tax Office makes this important technology upgrade and invests in better service for our growing community.

Customers may notice an increase on their September wastewater bill as the City’s previously approved wastewater rate adjustments take effect.

Earlier this year, the Dripping Springs City Council approved adjustments to the City’s wastewater rates to address rising infrastructure costs, support the needs of our growing community, and help protect the long-term sustainability of our water resources.

The approved rate structure includes increases to both the base rate and usage rate.

For the current September bill, most residential customers will see an increase of approximately $20 to $30 per month, depending on usage. Commercial customers will see increases based on their level of service, with impacts varying by size and demand.

Although the rate adjustments were approved earlier this year, the City delayed implementation until September to provide customers with advance notice and time to prepare. Since approval, the City has shared information about the upcoming changes through mailed notices, utility bill inserts, online information, and other City communications.

Did you know 1 out of every 3 birds migrating through the U.S. passes through Texas? Most
migratory birds fly at night, meaning the bright lights of commercial and residential buildings
attract and disorient birds. This distraction can cause collisions and leave birds vulnerable to
threats on the ground. Take action to protect migrating birds by turning out all non-essential
lights outside and inside from 11 pm - 6 am from August 15 - November 30, and especially during
Peak Migration from September 5 - October 29. 🐦‍⬛

REMINDER: Utility Rate Changes Begin with September Billing

As we’ve shared over the past several months, the City of Dripping Springs has increased its utility rates.

The new rates will be reflected on your September 2026 utility bill, which will be sent the week of September 7.

We know seeing a change on your bill can raise questions, so we encourage customers to review the information we’ve provided about the rate increase, including why the changes were necessary and what they mean for your utility bill.

The City of Dripping Springs is proud to proclaim September–November 2026 and March–May 2027 as Lights Out Migratory Months!

Did you know approximately 1 billion birds migrate through Texas each year—and most of that journey happens at night? Bright artificial lights can disorient migrating birds, making their journey more dangerous.

During Lights Out Migratory Months, we’re encouraging community members, businesses and government facilities to help create safer skies by turning off unnecessary exterior lights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

By simply flipping a switch, we can help protect migratory birds, preserve our beautiful night sky and support Dripping Springs’ commitment to being a Dark Sky and Bird City community. ✨

Lights Out, Dripping Springs!🐦

The City of Dripping Springs is asking residents and businesses to turn off exterior lights from 11PM - 6AM, until November 30th, especially during the peak migration period ending October 29th.

From hummingbirds and warblers to sparrows and geese, millions of birds migrate across North America every year, covering hundreds to thousands of miles. Most of these birds make their journey at night, visualizing the magnetic pull of the earth and using the moon and stars to set their course. By taking part in Lights Out Dripping Springs and reducing skyglow over Dripping Springs, residents and businesses can help them make it to their destinations safely!

Puppy Plunge was a paw-some way to celebrate the last day of the season at Founders Memorial Pool! 🐶💦🐾

Thank you to everyone who brought their four-legged friends out on Sunday for an afternoon of swimming, splashing, and puppy playtime! We loved seeing all the happy pups take over the pool and help us close out another great summer at Founders Memorial Pool.
