A reason to be Thankful….

In a world that is laced with turmoil, we need only turn to our families and friends to see all the things that we should be thankful for.

It is human nature to complain, but it’s also human nature to pick each other up in times of stress, to help each other when we can, to be good, Christian people.

Today is a wonderful time to cast politics aside and talk about the things that we are grateful for.

Mend those broken bridges and put aside those differences.

Wish each other a Happy Thanksgiving and mean it.

Wishing everyone the very best on this special day!

A SIGN OF CHARACTER

Over the course of our lives, each of us has had to deal with adversity.

It’s how we deal with that adversity that develops our character.

On this Wednesday morning, we have woken up to a nightmare, worse than we could have ever imagined. It hurts. We ask ourselves, could we have done anything more. Would it have made a difference.

Every single issue that we believed in, that we fought for, was defeated. This morning the far right is celebrating that they have beaten the crap out of us.

And they’re right!

They created lies that people believed and fell for. They misrepresented our candidates and threatened us.

So what do we do?

We can have pity on ourselves and bury our heads, we can try to place blame on what happened. We can bitch all we want.

None of that will make a difference.

We need to collect our thoughts and remind ourselves of who we are. We have values and we KNOW that we were fighting for a just cause.

Now is the time to show our character. We will hold our heads up and do what’s necessary to turn this around.

I’m so proud of our accomplishments. I’m so proud of all the new faces who have stepped forward to help with this election.

I’m so proud of all the Democrats who I consider my friends.

As Kamala said, we won’t go back… now is the time to look forward!!

MAKE NO MISTAKE!
The commissioners have been lying when they said the soil on the old mosaic tile building site was clean.
The evidence is clear and speaks for itself. They will hold back nothing to insure that the sheriff can put a feather in his cap before he retires.
Don’t forget: in 2017 the issue came to a vote and we, the people, voted the jail down!
We’re talking about a $200 million dollar project that will be paid for by the tax payers.
They are going forward without having a plan to fund the structure!
This is NOT the way the commissioner’s office is supposed to be run!

We don’t need another sycophant in the commissioners’ office!

It’s not just that the commissioners wasted over $5 million from the ARPA funds to give bonuses to Genesis employees and $500 thousand dollars to clean up the Lear property (which hasn’t been touched!)

It’s not just that the commissioners haven’t addressed the lack of broadband internet to nearly 25% of the county when they had the funds to do it.

It’s not just that commissioners insist upon placing a county jail in the middle of a residential and historic district, despite the fact that the grounds have been deemed “hazardous” by the EPA and the zoning board voted not to place it there.

It’s just that they simply don’t care!

When our Republican candidates paraded in Frazeysburg this summer, two days after a tornado ravaged the town, neither of them bothered to stay behind to offer support or compassion.

This is a stark illustration of who they are: politicians who simply want to do the sheriff’s bidding and not what’s best for the county.

We need a change, we need to vote competent candidates into the commissioners’ office NOW!!

ACCOUNTABILITY!
In May 2021 Muskingum County received $16.7 million through the America Rescue Plan program to be used to improve the county. Emphasis was placed on providing broadband to the entire county, especially to the rural areas.
Our commissioners gave nearly $5 million as bonus money to the employees at Genesis and $500 thousand to the city of Zanesville for the clean-up of the abandoned Lear property. As I speak, all of this money is long gone, and our county has nothing to show for it.
We need commissioners who are competent and transparent, commissioners who understand that they are representing all of the people and not just a select few.
