Around 11:30am on Friday, Draper Fire units were dispatched to a residential structure fire. First arriving units found what appeared to be an exterior fire working its way interior from the rear of the town home.

Crews rapidly deployed fire attack lines, entered for search, and ventilated the home including the adjacent townhomes within the same structure.

Quick actions by all agencies on scene prevented further damage and rapid extinguishment. No injuries to occupants or firefighters occurred.

Thank you to Sandy City, Bluffdale, Unified, South Jordan, and Draper’s Police for assistance on this incident. Sandy City Fire Department South Jordan City Fire Department Unified Fire Authority Bluffdale City Fire Department

Congratulations on your retirement, Battalion Chief Robert Lambert!
After 26 years in the fire service, Chief Lambert hung up his helmet and began his next chapter a few weeks back.
BC Lambert’s career included service with South Salt Lake Fire Department, Unified Fire Authority, and Draper City Fire Department, where he served as a Paramedic, Engineer, Investigator, Technical Rescue/Heavy Rescue Technician, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Emergency Manager.
Throughout his career, Chief Lambert demonstrated leadership, dedication, and a commitment to serving others. His impact will be felt for years to come by the communities he served and the firefighters he worked alongside.
Thank you, Chief, for 26 years of service, sacrifice, and dedication.

On Friday, July 31st, Draper City Firefighters from Station 21 were dispatched, along with other Salt Lake Valley fire agencies, to the Midvale apartment fire. Ladder 21 spent multiple hours on scene working to try and prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the large apartment building.
DCFD firefighters were assigned roof operations to perform a trench cut, a practice used to prevent the fire from spreading. Once on the roof, our firefighters were instantly met with heavy flames and intense heat forcing them to retreat back to the ladder. After stretching 500 feet of supply hose, they utilized Ladder 21’s aerial to continue fire suppression efforts.
