The City of Drakesboro received this award letter for a $313,000.00 grant today. The water system is in desperate need of upgrades. This money will hopefully be used by the new administration for new fire hydrants, critical valves (to help minimize leaks and water loss), and an AMR (Automated Meter Read system).
Customers that are experiencing water pressure drops on Ditney Hill, Cornette Street, and Broad Street could have those problems corrected with the installation of a new pressure reducing valve (PRV) at a cost of $10,000.00 or the addition of a new water line dedicated to filling the tank.
The $187,000.00 that the City received earlier this year from the fiscal court's cleaner water and sewer allocation money will hopefully be used to rehabilitate our water tank on broad street which hasn't been upgraded in over 15 years. This project will include resurfacing of the interior and exterior of the tank and new paint inside and outside and the addition of a mixing system internally that will help with water quality and chlorine retention which makes the water safer to drink.
This money that the City has received, totallying $500,000.00 does not have to be matched to receive and does not have to be repayed. Thank you to Drakesboro staff, Muhlenberg Fical Court members, Pennyrile Area Development District Infrastructure specialist Kyle Cunningham, State Representative Melinda Gibbons Prunty, and our Counties five other utilities for reaching the agreement that made this possible.

Halloween 2022. What a great night. We didn't get all the pictures we wanted, but thanks to all that participated. We loved seeing you! We hope you enjoyed the candy and hot chocolate! The parents and children were so creative, spooky, cute, and all were having such a great time last night. Special thanks to the Drakesboro Volunteer Planning Committee, girl scouts, beta club, ROTC, boy scouts, and the City employees and family for volunteering their time.
