🌱 Native Plant Spotlight: Joe-pye W**d 💜

October's spotlight is Joe-pye w**d (Eutrochium spp.), a striking native perennial known for its tall stature, clusters of pink and purple flowers, and value to pollinators and wildlife.

Blooming in late summer, Joe-pye w**d is a pollinator magnet, attracting bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and other beneficial insects. Its seed heads also provide a valuable late-season food source for birds.

Joe-pye w**d grows best in full sun to partial shade and generally prefers consistently moist soil. Depending on the species and variety, plants can reach anywhere from 3 to 12 feet tall, making them a beautiful choice for rain gardens, meadow-style plantings, pollinator gardens, and naturalized areas.

Once established, Joe-pye w**d returns year after year and gradually forms attractive clumps through underground rhizomes and self-seeding. Its impressive height and late-season blooms make it a great way to add color, texture, and wildlife value to the landscape.

The Doylestown Township Police would like to remind residents of our Persons with Disabilities Information Program, an initiative designed to enhance the interaction experience and safety for individuals who experience the world uniquely.

Through this voluntary registration program, residents can provide critical information regarding specific needs, next-of-kin contacts, medical conditions, or communication preferences. Having this information on file enables law enforcement and first responders to offer more personalized, effective, and informed assistance during emergency situations.

Our goal is to foster a safer, more inclusive environment for all residents of Doylestown Township.
