🎓 From ES graduate last year, to a homeowner this year! 🏠

We love sharing the inspirational stories of our clients who work so hard to become economically self-sufficient. This is Jennifer's story, thoughtfully shared by our Senior Self-Sufficiency Coach, Rebecca.

Jen graduated last year from the ES Program after completing her R.N. Certification at the Bucks County Community College. Jen is a single mom of two girls and has always been the sole caretaker and provider for her family. While in nursing school, BCOC assisted Jen with car repairs, rent, gifts during the holidays, and backpacks, and supplies when she could not afford to buy them herself at the start of every school year for her daughters. She received scholarships for tuition and textbooks through the ES Program, all of which allowed her to continue on and graduate a Registered Nurse in June of 2024. Jen now works full-time as a nurse in an emergency room at a local hospital; she is giving back to the community and helping others, which was always her end goal.

However, her dream was to one day purchase her own home and have a safe, stable place for her family. Last month, Jen finally purchased her dream home with the help of the ES Home Purchase Award. She moved in just last week and BCOC is so proud of all of her accomplishments. Jen knows that without BCOC, none of this would have been possible.

💝 If this kind of work and community support inspires you, learn more and consider donating to the ES Program Endowment at https://bcoc.org/how-to-donate/.

🥊 On June 18th, you can help fight hunger and build a healthy community with Bucks Knocks Out Hunger from United Way of Bucks County! This annual effort combines fundraising, food collection, and hands-on volunteer work. Each year, thousands of people donate, advocate, and pack meals to support local food pantries and help neighbors in need.

Proceeds from this event help cover the costs of Fresh Connect, which allows BCOC to get fresh produce from the farm to the tables of our neighbors who need an extra hand.

Learn more and sign up to volunteer or donate at https://www.uwbucks.org/bko-hunger/.

We are always thrilled to welcome our friends from Amazon.com for another volunteer day at the HELP Center. They filled pantry orders, loaded pantry vehicles, condensed pallets of food, and sorted three huge bins of donated food for allocation to the pantries.
