Last week, a Bucks County-owned bridge in West Rockhill Township was dedicated in memory of U.S. Army Sgt. John R. Millikan, an Upper Bucks native who was killed in action during the Vietnam War. Millikan, 21, died Aug. 18, 1968, after coming under fire while leading his squad during combat. The Quakertown High School graduate was in country only 93 days before his death and in that short span was awarded an Army Commendation with a V device, a bronze star and a silver star. Millikan’s sisters attended Tuesday’s ceremony, as did several of his former classmates.
