Yesterday, we took our expertise out into the field for a hands-on medical scenario with the Department of Natural Resources. We set up our training directly in a campsite—exactly the type of environment these staff encounter in the real world. Despite the heat and heavy humidity (it was seriously sticky), this dedicated crew pushed through realistic simulations, focusing not just on patient care, but on the logistics that save lives.

A massive focus of yesterday’s scenario was the critical link to the broader emergency network: how DNR staff efficiently connect with 911 from remote locations, relay coordinates, and seamlessly integrate with incoming local EMS units to establish a smooth handoff.

Training like you play is what keeps skills sharp. Massive thank you to everyone who brought their A-game, stayed hydrated, and worked through the sweat to keep our parks, trails, and communities safe!

We were fortunate to be asked to lend our expertise to partners for their exercise. When we practice, we are all more prepared when disaster strikes!

What better way to celebrate EMS Week than watching the future of our profession take their next big step? Last night, CMEMS had the privilege of attending the EMT and EMR graduation at Central Lakes College and checking out their remodeled classroom space! As a member of their EMS advisory group, it is incredibly rewarding to see these students' hard work, dedication, and countless hours of training culminate in this moment. They are stepping into a vital role, ready to serve and protect our communities when it matters most.

Congratulations to all the graduates! Welcome to the EMS family—stay safe out there, and thank you for answering the call.

As we celebrate National EMS Week, this video shines a critical light on a reality many outside of public safety don't know: in many places, Emergency Medical Services are not legally classified as an essential service.

Despite the lack of formal mandates and funding parity, our EMS professionals show up every single day, delivering life-saving clinical care under the most demanding circumstances. This week, we don't just celebrate their hard work—we advocate for the recognition and support they rightfully deserve.

What better way to kick off EMS Week than with some incredible news for our region? We are thrilled to officially announce that we have been approved as a Minnesota EMS Education Site! Whether we are presenting to your local department or teaming up with our partners at CENTRAC for regional trauma and clinical education, we are making it easier than ever for your crews to get high-quality, accredited training close to home.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of being asked to present the Morrison County EMS awards. Congratulations to Mike Martz, Laura Skiba, Jim Ricketts, Dr. Mark Moe, and Stacy Maciej for being recognized as Morrison County Responders of the Year. Your positive impact and unwavering dedication to Morrison County is truly amazing.

We also presented the 2nd Annual Live Like Linda Award. Linda Day had a gift for making people feel heard. She brought calm to crisis, clarity to chaos, and connection to every interaction. She lifted up those around her with compassion and humor. The “Live Like Linda” Award honors responders who embody those same qualities — leadership, communication, and the ability to bring people together. This year’s recipient of the LIVE LIKE LINDA AWARD is Jeff Dingmann!

With 28 years of service — from Royalton Fire and Rescue to the MLMB First Response Team — Jeff has been a model of professionalism and dedication. He brings organization, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to best practices. Jeff challenges his team to consider all perspectives and continually improve. He’s been a trusted resource, a mentor, and a driving force behind community initiatives. Jeff’s leadership, experience, and compassion make him exactly the kind of person this award was created to honor.

Congratulations to Jeff Dingmann, this year’s Live Like Linda Award recipient!

The heartbeat of emergency response starts with a single call.

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, and we’re honoring the "First First Responders." They are the calm in the chaos, the lifeline on the other end of the phone, and the invisible threads holding our community together. 911 dispatchers don't just answer calls—they save lives.

Sometimes the best part of my day is only having to make one trip from the office to the car. It’s all about strategy, balance, and a stubborn refusal to walk back upstairs for round two. CMEMS is getting ready to present in Morrison County on Friday!
