A difficult crime to spot, labor trafficking is a form of human trafficking that often goes unnoticed and unreported. Labor trafficking can occur anywhere there is a demand for labor, including within industries that rely on contracted and traveling workforces, as well as within the communities impacted by these operations.

From construction and maintenance projects to lodging, transportation and subcontracted services, labor trafficking can intersect with the energy sector in unexpected ways. Educating employees on the red flags of labor trafficking and empowering them to report suspicious behavior is an important step toward protecting vulnerable individuals and strengthening communities.
