💡Innovation rooted in agriculture is helping shape the future of wound care.🌱

Researchers at N.C. A&T's Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering have filed a provisional patent for Woundra, a nanoengineered wound dressing made from agricultural byproducts that could help reduce infection, support healing and improve wound care, especially in rural communities. 💙💛

The team, led by doctoral student Hoda Motaghed, has also secured funding and industry partnerships to help move the technology toward commercialization. The research demonstrates how agricultural materials can be transformed into innovative healthcare solutions.

🚜 Do you know a North Carolina farmer making a difference in agriculture and their community?

Nominations are now open for the 2027 Small Farmer of the Year award, one of the highest honors presented during N.C. A&T's annual Small Farms Week. The award recognizes North Carolina small farmers who demonstrate innovation, leadership, environmental stewardship and strong business management.

🌱 Did you miss yesterday's Ginger Field Day at the N.C. A&T University Farm? You're in luck! Another opportunity to learn the ins and outs of ginger production is coming to Stokes County later this month.
Along with Plum Granny Farm and the Stokes County Extension Center, we are holding another hands-on workshop that includes cutting seed ginger, planting and harvesting. We'll also hear insights into growing ginger from Ray Tuegel of Plum Granny. 💙💛

🏆Congratulations to our outstanding 4-H professionals at Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T!

At the 2026 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference in Asheville, three Extension educators were recognized for innovative programs helping youth become Beyond Ready.

✨ Keli Boone and Vicki Wiggins received the Excellence in Teamwork Award for creating Reality of Agriculture, an interactive agricultural literacy experience connecting youth to careers in agriculture, STEM, and food systems.

✨ Mark Light, Ph.D., was part of a team receiving the Educational Technology Award for transforming CLOVER by 4-H into a platform that expands artificial intelligenceI literacy and equitable access to technology education.

Aggies share lessons they've learned about navigating college life, building community, staying focused, and making the most of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Their experiences offer valuable insights for students beginning their journey at North Carolina A&T State University and serve as a reminder that success is often built through connection, resilience, and engagement.

🚜🌱 Day Two of the 2026 Farmer's Road Trip continued the journey in Western North Carolina, highlighting innovative farming practices, land stewardship and agricultural entrepreneurship.

📍 The Never Ending Flower Farm
📍 Burley Stick Farm

From farmland conservation to diversified crop production and pick-your-own flowers farming, Day Two showcased the many ways North Carolina farmers are building resilient operations while supporting their communities.
