First, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for the victory last night. What a tremendous win. I want to congratulate Shereef Akeel thank Dr Naz Hassan and Jeremiah Wheeler for showing me the meaning of the word hustle!! Thank the 30-plus volunteers for our campaign! They weren’t paid, but showed up because they believed in us. And every endorsement - THANK YOU for everything!! And of course, thank you DEMOCRATS, for your vote and trust!! Just so incredibly humbling!!!

Full day Wednesday … visited the Wayne County democratic Black Caucus, and proudly received the endorsement. That means so much to me, because the organization and its Chair Frank Woods have been strong advocates for justice and enhancement for our community.

Before that, I went to Northwest Detroit Club. Afterwards, the Farmington Farmington Hills Dem Club had a packed house. I mentioned to those in attendance how critical it is for the WSU budget to be balanced by assuring WSU remain a top notch university but not doing so at the expense of the faculty and staff!

I’m pleased and proud to have received the Michigan Democratic Party Progressive Caucus. This Caucus helps force our party to remain true to progressive missions, and plans to achieve those missions. I am truly honored. Thank you Progressive Caucus!

I am extremely proud an honored to have been endorsed by the IBEW Local 58, IBEW Local 252 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Michigan State Council. I have seen first hand how these unions fought hard for workers who they did not even represent, just because it was the right thing to do. Check out the Justice for United Six page to see one example of this fight, where they repeatedly marched and informed the state of Michigan about a racist contractor who was allowing horrific racism and sexism to happen on the job site. In the end they saw that justice was served, in the court room and at the jobsite! Thank you IBEW!!

I am proud and honored to have received the endorsement of AFT Michigan. The American Federation of Teachers represents thousands of hard working men and women who teach at Wayne State University. We all have to appreciate how their efforts to improve the educational experience for students at WSU has enhanced all in our community. Thank you so much Michigan AFT!!

This union of hundreds of thousands of faculty and staff continues to be an example of the benefit of joining a union. Their expertise in higher education proves to benefit not only their members, but other workers and students at universities across the state. Thank you so much!
