In the spring of 2015, Jay was diagnosed with the deadly relentless disease known as ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). This disease came upon him fast and hard, yet Jay continued to smile through his pain. It is the way he puts all of us first over himself. He fought this monster, enduring not only the physical pain but the emotional pain associated with one disappointing diagnosis after another. He wan

ted to be here for his wife and children. the disease won the battle, but through this Scholarship and the countless memories many of us hold in our hearts, Jay was victorious. Jay Plummer's unselfishness, his incredibly strong sense of right and wrong, his loyalty to family and friends, and his genuine belief in higher education will have a lasting impact on many more people for years to come! Members of the Bossier City Police and Fire Departments will hold a fundraiser cookout to benefit the Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter of the ALS Association this Thursday, October 27 from 11 am-1 pm at the Liberty Garden (located between the police and fire departments). Hamburger lunches will be available for sale to all city employees and members of the public for a donation in the amount of their choice!
The money raised will be turned in at the Shreveport-Bossier City Walk to defeat ALS which will take place on Saturday, November 5 from 8 am- 11am at the Louisiana Boardwalk. All city employees are invited to come out that day and join police and firefighters to walk with "Team4J".

We love and miss you terribly Jay! Your spirit lives on with this scholarship fund!
