All Parks and Recreation Department offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. This excludes the Apollo Gymnasium as their front office will be open on Monday, September 7th.

Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8th.

As a reminder, the Parks and Recreation Department office is now closed on Fridays effective July 6, 2026. The Barbara J. Riley Community & Senior Center and the Apollo Gymnasium remain open on Fridays.

The Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the release of the Fall 2026 edition of The Orbit- the official guide to upcoming classes, programs and events!

❗Registration for most classes and activities will open Monday, August 17!
👩🏽‍💻 In-person & online registration starts at 8:30AM!

☎️ Over the phone registration starts at 1:00pm!

Printed copies are being mailed to Downey residents, and a digital version is available at www.downeyca.org/PR and through the QR code on the second slide!

The Downey Orbit us now available to pick up at the following locations:
