This Labor Day weekend, more than 8.5 million vehicles are expected to travel on the Illinois Tollway.
As drivers prepare for one last summer getaway, the Illinois Tollway is introducing its new “Sit Tight. Choose Right.” campaign to help drivers know what to do if their vehicle breaks down.

If possible, move to the shoulder, turn on your hazard lights, stay inside your vehicle and dial *999 for roadside assistance. Exit only if there is an immediate, life-threatening danger, and call 911.

Traffic doesn’t stop because your vehicle did. Sit Tight. Choose Right.

With extreme hot and humid conditions expected, the Illinois Tollway is deploying additional roadway crews around the clock to quickly locate and assist stranded drivers.

If you need roadside assistance, dial *999 and provide your roadway, direction of travel and nearest milepost or crossroad. Turn on your hazard lights and remain with your vehicle until help arrives.
