Vote for Gary Grasso For DuPage County Board Chair!!

I want to thank the League of Women Voters of Elmhurst, IL for hosting today’s candidate forum. Civic groups that put both candidates in a room and let voters listen are how this county is supposed to work.

One line from my opponent stayed with me. She said she is the first full-time female Chair to hold the office.

She is the first woman elected Chair of the DuPage County Board. That is a matter of record.

“Full-time” is not in the statute.

The Board meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 10 a.m. The county already pays a chief administrative officer $262,068 to run the departments. The Chair has a County Board Office — assistants, a senior advisor, a policy analyst, operations, and a communications shop.

When she left the Illinois House at the end of 2022, a state representative’s base was about $73,000. The Chair job she walked into already paid about $137,000. In April the Board took that office to $182,000, in six and a half minutes.

First woman: true. Full-time: a label added after the raise.

Family First. Freedom Forever.

A quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001, when the peace of our Nation was shattered by terrorists.

Today, we remember the 2,977 precious lives taken from us, honor the heroes who answered the call, & keep their families in the heart of our Nation.

Above all, we must ensure the memory of 9/11 never fades, but is carried from one generation of Americans to the next.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

“Freedom is not about doing what feels good, it’s about doing what’s right.” Charlie Kirk

September 10, 2025, changed America’s history forever.

One year ago, our founder, our leader, and our friend, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated while doing what he had devoted his life to: standing before young Americans and challenging them to think, speak, and have the courage to stand for what they believe.

There are no words that can adequately describe what this past year has been like.

We have had to learn how to carry on without the person at the center of everything we do. We have celebrated milestones Charlie should have been here to celebrate, stood on stages where his voice should have been heard, and watched his children grow without their father there to see it.

For those who knew and loved Charlie, September 10 will never simply be an anniversary. It is the day our lives changed forever.

Today, our hearts are especially with Erika, Charlie’s children, the Kirk family, and the countless people who loved him. We will never forget the unimaginable loss they continue to carry.

But we also remember Charlie for how he lived.

Charlie’s faith was at the center of who he was. His faith in Christ was his armor, which no assassin could overcome. He believed in life everlasting, and that unshakable faith gave him a courage impossible to miss. He wanted others to know the hope and truth he had in Jesus. Charlie died a martyr for Christ.

Charlie believed America was worth fighting for, that young people could change the course of a nation, and that speech would only remain free if exercised. He was fearless in the pursuit of truth, no matter the cost.

Turning Point shares those beliefs and will never abandon them. Charlie never gave up, and neither will we.

Today, we remember an incredible patriot, a husband, a father, and a man whose faith gave him the courage to spend his life serving a purpose bigger than himself.

We miss him. We grieve him. And we will never forget him.

One year later, Turning Point remains committed to carrying forward the work Charlie began.

For Charlie. Always.
