To honor Andy, please wear a life jacket when boating to increase your chances of surviving carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Boaters should use a marine CO detector, seat children in the forward-most seating on a boat, avoid idling and exposure to emissions from other boats, and always maintain fresh air circulation.

DCFD Names May’s Firefighter of the Month

Congratulations to Kyle Hovey, firefighter with our Liberty Station, for being named our May Firefighter of the Month!

Over the past month, Firefighter Kyle Hovey took charge of our training with exceptional leadership. He provided hands-on instruction and a positive environment, showing remarkable patience by coaching several firefighters to conquer their fear of heights rather than giving up. On a recent wreck involving a frightened child, he didn't hesitate to give them a stuffed animal his own daughter had given him, staying by their side to offer water and comfort. Always willing to help, his dedication to training and commitment to his fellow firefighters embodies what leadership is all about.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Main Station Engine 59 BBQ fundraiser. Your generosity and encouragement mean more than words can express.
A special thank you goes out to all the individuals who donated their time, effort, and resources to help make this event a success, as well as the local businesses that contributed: Twisted Oaks, Food Lion, Patty’s, Back40Farm, B&B Equipment, and Lipstick Pig.
