Dover TN Post 72, The American Legion The Douglas M. Lyons, Dover TN Post 72, The American Legion, Department of Tennessee Lyons Dover Post #72 was officially charted on September 26, 1930.

The post has gone through many changes but still
remains committed to serving Veterans, their families, and our great community. We are attempting to contact and connect veterans from all branches of service (active duty, retired, reserve)
in Stewart County in order to distribute information, provide support for veteran funeral services, conduct Veterans and Memorial Day
ceremonies, and ensuri

On Behalf of Fred Shaw-Post 72 Commander, Sylvia Bailey-Unit 72 Auxiliary President, and Don Bailey-SAL Squadron Commander. Hope to see you all there. Bring a veteran and their family. Riders Chapter 72 meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6pm the same location.

The cemetery is located at 174 National Cemetery Drive in Dover, TN. We will meet behind the cemetery lodge. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Thursday, May 28th at 10:00 AM, we need your help removing the flags from Fort Donelson National Cemetery. If you have some time to spare, please join us for this important task. The cemetery is located at 174 National Cemetery Drive in Dover, TN.

5.25.2026. Stewart Co. Memorial Day Ceremony conducted at Fort Donelson National Cemetery. The weather cooperated for those in attendance to honor and remember those who gave their lives for our liberty. Thank you to all who supported and participated in todays ceremony.

5.19.2026. During the Legion 72 Family fellowship meal, Merissa Colbert (l) from Stewart County Soccer and Coach Taylor (r), along with two players, presented Dover Post 72 with a token of appreciation for the posts sponsorship of the Under 6 Soccer team. Post 72 Commander Fred Shaw received the award. This is in keeping with The American Legions support of Children and Youth.
