A-shift put in some work this afternoon training on a vacant building on the city’s north side slated to be demolished soon. Firefighters trained on vertical roof ventilation and use of fire service saws. Vertical ventilation helps to increase visibility and assists in removal of heat and toxic fire gases improving interior conditions for both firefighters and victims inside. We would like to thank Dover City Schools who recently purchased the building, for allowing us the opportunity to utilize it for training to keep our skills sharp!

15th St will be closer after the railroad tracks.

Please try to avoid the area Saturday morning as it can get congested.

Saturday is training,
We hope it won't be raining,
But come rain or shine,
Our exercise will be fine,
And knowledge we hope we'll be gaining!

Fortunately, here at the EMA, when we write emergency plans, they are NOT in the form of limericks!

This Saturday, April 18, 2026, is our LEPC annual HAZMAT exercise. We are holding this at Dover Chemical Corporation. Please note you will see increased first responder presence - fire trucks, law enforcement and ambulances - at Dover Chemical from approx. 8:00am-1:00pm. THIS IS ONLY AN EXERCISE!

Davis Road will be closed just past McDonalds. The gas station and McDonalds will still be accessible. 15th St. will be closed just after the railroad tracks. Please try to avoid this area Saturday morning so our first responders and Dover Chemical employees can train.

We have been planning this exercise for months and appreciate Dover Chemicals willingness to train with us!

If you have any questions, please call our office at 330-308-6670.
