*** Power Outage ***

Please be advised that there is a temporary power outage in the northwest portion of Dover due to a both a downed power line and downed utility pole.

The Electric Field department has dispatched crews and they are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

Thank you so much for your patience as we work to restore power safely and quickly.

UPDATE - The repair is complete and the road is open.

*** Public Service Announcement - Water Line Repair and Road Closure ***

Please be advised that Tuscarawas Avenue, between West 3rd Street and Slingluff Avenue, will be closed tomorrow, June 16th, from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM for a water line repair.

Detours will be posted for through traffic, and local residents will have full access to their homes. Please be mindful of our crews working in the area.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete these necessary repairs!

Firefighters were dispatched to 1695 Froman Hill Road NE yesterday evening at approximately 10:15 p.m. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival crews found a working fire of a 120’ x 50’ two story wood frame commercial barn. Initial operations focused on suppression and cooling of a 1,000 gallon propane cylinder impinged by fire and actively venting flames. With the arrival of additional crews on scene, fire operations continued to shift to fire suppression of the main fire building. Due to heavy fire conditions, and limited water supply due to the rural location, firefighters were forced to conduct defensive exterior operations. A large water shuttle operation with tankers was utilized with multiple fill site locations to bring water to the scene. Firefighters remained on scene well through the night for over 6 hours before the fire was finally brought under control and extinguished. No injuries have been reported. The fire remains under active investigation with the Dover Fire Department. We would like to thank our many mutual aid partners for this fire which include: New Philadelphia, Strasburg, Bolivar, Sugarcreek, York Township, Wayne Township, Mineral City, Fairfield Township, Sherrodsville, Erie Valley Fire District, North Lawrence Fire Department, East Sparta, Smith Ambulance, Stark County Fire Department Rehab Unit and the Tuscarawas County Sheriffs Department.

Firefighters were requested by Strasburg Fire this evening for a vehicle fire at the Pro Via Fleet Maintenance facility at 6651 Baertown Road NW. First arriving companies from Strasburg found heavy fire involving two commercial semi tractor trucks. The fire was quickly brought under control. Mutual aid for water supply was requested from Dover, Wayne Township, and Bolivar Fire Departments. No injuries have been reported at this time. Cause of the fire remains under investigation with the Strasburg Fire Department.
