Firefighters were dispatched to 1695 Froman Hill Road NE yesterday evening at approximately 10:15 p.m. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival crews found a working fire of a 120’ x 50’ two story wood frame commercial barn. Initial operations focused on suppression and cooling of a 1,000 gallon propane cylinder impinged by fire and actively venting flames. With the arrival of additional crews on scene, fire operations continued to shift to fire suppression of the main fire building. Due to heavy fire conditions, and limited water supply due to the rural location, firefighters were forced to conduct defensive exterior operations. A large water shuttle operation with tankers was utilized with multiple fill site locations to bring water to the scene. Firefighters remained on scene well through the night for over 6 hours before the fire was finally brought under control and extinguished. No injuries have been reported. The fire remains under active investigation with the Dover Fire Department. We would like to thank our many mutual aid partners for this fire which include: New Philadelphia, Strasburg, Bolivar, Sugarcreek, York Township, Wayne Township, Mineral City, Fairfield Township, Sherrodsville, Erie Valley Fire District, North Lawrence Fire Department, East Sparta, Smith Ambulance, Stark County Fire Department Rehab Unit and the Tuscarawas County Sheriffs Department.
