🌳 It’s officially underway! 🌳

Our town-wide tree inventory has begun, and you may start seeing arborists out and about collecting important data on Dover’s trees.

We’re working with Davey Tree Expert Company to document the health, size, and location of trees throughout the community. This information will help us better plan for maintenance, identify potential risks, and continue growing a healthier, greener Dover 🌱

This is a big step forward for the Shade Tree Commission, and we’re excited to see it in action! If you see the crew working, feel free to give them a wave 👋

🌳 Heads up, Dover residents! 🌳

Starting Monday, April 20th at 9:00 a.m., two inventory arborists from Davey Resource Group will be working throughout town to conduct a tree inventory.

You may see them out and about in different neighborhoods—this is just part of our ongoing efforts to better understand and care for Dover’s tree canopy.

Please note:
• They will not be entering private property
• They will only be documenting trees located on Town-owned property
• Their work is non-intrusive

This is simply an FYI so you’re aware if you see them around town or hear about it from neighbors.

Join the Dover Shade Tree Commission as we celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 24th at JFK Park!

🕒 Time to be announced

This will be a simple but meaningful community event featuring a ceremonial tree planting and a chance to come together and recognize the important role trees play in our town.

Trees help make Dover greener, healthier, and more beautiful, and Arbor Day is a great opportunity to celebrate that.

We’d love to see residents, families, and community members stop by and be part of it! 🌱

Spring is here, and all around Dover we’re starting to see trees waking up for the season. Buds, blossoms, and fresh green leaves are on the way! 🌱

April is a great time to appreciate the trees that make our neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces more beautiful and welcoming.

The Dover Shade Tree Commission is looking forward to a busy month of celebrating, learning, and continuing our work to support a greener Dover. 💚

🌳🎉 Big news for Dover! 🎉🌳

The Town of Dover has once again been recognized as a 2025 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation! 💚

This recognition reflects Dover’s continued commitment to caring for our community trees and investing in a greener, healthier, and more beautiful town for everyone.

Trees do so much for our community - they provide shade, improve air quality, help reduce stormwater runoff, and make Dover a better place to live, work, and gather.

We are incredibly proud to continue being recognized as a Tree City USA community, and we’re grateful for the support of our local officials, residents, and everyone who helps make this work possible.

This is something our town can be proud of - and we’re excited to keep building on these efforts in the years ahead! 🌱🌳

The Dover Shade Tree Commission has been working behind the scenes on something special - and we’re excited to share that a Tree Donation Program is coming soon.

This upcoming initiative will give residents, families, and local organizations the opportunity to:

🌱 Honor a loved one
🌱 Celebrate a milestone
🌱 Recognize a graduate
🌱 Commemorate a special event
🌱 Contribute to Dover’s growing canopy

Trees are more than landscaping - they are living legacies. They provide shade, cleaner air, stormwater management, beauty, and long-term environmental benefits for our entire community.

We’re putting the final details together now and look forward to sharing more information soon, including how residents can participate.

⏰ Daylight Saving Time Is Here! 🌞🌳

Don’t forget - clocks “spring forward” this weekend!

As we adjust our clocks and enjoy the extra evening daylight, it’s also a great reminder that spring is officially around the corner.

Longer days mean:

🌱 More time outside
🌱 More opportunities for tree walks
🌱 Spring planting season approaching
🌱 Arbor Day planning in full swing

Daylight Saving Time is also a good moment to do a quick property check:

✔️ Look for winter tree damage
✔️ Check young trees for stability
✔️ Plan any needed pruning before full leaf-out

That extra hour of evening light is the perfect excuse to take a walk around your neighborhood and appreciate Dover’s growing canopy.
