As we wrap up the first week of school, the Dover Police Department would like to thank parents, caregivers, and drivers for slowing down in school zones and allowing extra time for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

Dover Police Officers were at schools throughout the week assisting with traffic control, promoting safety, and enforcing traffic laws to help ensure a safe start to the school year.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and ask that you continue these safe driving habits when school resumes next week.

As a reminder, this is a long weekend for Dover Public Schools. Enjoy the long weekend, and we’ll see you when school returns on Wednesday, September 9th!

Dover Police & Dover Fire Give Back

Earlier this week, members of the Dover Police and Dover Fire Departments rolled up their sleeves and donated blood during a Red Cross blood drive.

Our first responders spend their careers helping others, and donating blood is another simple way to make a meaningful difference in our community. Every donation has the potential to help patients and families when they need it most.

Thank you to the staff from both departments who took the time to donate, and to the Red Cross for helping make the drive possible.

We encourage everyone who is eligible to consider donating at a future blood drive. Your donation could help save a life.

School is back in session, Dover!

With today being the first day of school, it’s time for drivers to get back into the habit of sharing the road with school buses, pedestrians, bicyclists, and increased traffic around our schools.

Students will be walking to and from school, crossing streets, boarding buses, and navigating busy drop-off and pick-up areas. Please slow down, stay alert, and expect traffic to be more congested during these times.

A few reminders for drivers:

• Obey school zone speed limits and all traffic laws.
• Stop for school buses when red lights are flashing and the stop sign is extended.
• Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and follow crossing guard signals.
• Watch carefully for children near schools, bus stops, sidewalks, and parking lots.
• Never pass a stopped school bus.
• Avoid distractions. New Hampshire law prohibits the use of handheld electronic devices while driving.
• Be patient and give yourself extra time during drop-off and dismissal.
• Keep emergency vehicle lanes and accessible parking spaces clear.

The school year brings more activity to our streets. A little extra attention and patience can go a long way toward keeping Dover students safe.

DOVER POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES ARREST

DOVER, NH, August 28, 2026 - Chief David Terlemezian of the Dover Police Department announces the arrest of a Dover man following an online s*xual solicitation investigation.

On August 28, 2026, Dover Police detectives arrested Andrew Fawcett, 32, of Dover, New Hampshire, after obtaining an arrest warrant charging him with two counts of Certain Uses of Computer Services Prohibited, two counts of Indecent Exposure and Lewdness, and one count of Registration of Online Identifiers, all felony offenses. Andrew Fawcett is a registered s*x offender residing in the City of Dover.

The investigation began after an online group alerted the Dover Police Department that Andrew Fawcett had solicited a 13-year-old female child to meet at his residence for a s*xual encounter.

An initial investigation quickly confirmed that no actual children were involved, and the female Andrew Fawcett was speaking with was in fact an adult “decoy.”

Dover Police detectives continued with the investigation, which revealed that Andrew Fawcett had sent and requested s*xual photographs while conversing with the decoy. Additionally, the presence of an unreported online identifier was located, that was not previous reported to the s*x offender registry. As a s*x offender, Andrew Fawcett is required to check in quarterly, and report all online identifiers such as usernames and handles.

In accordance with state law, Andrew Fawcett was not eligible for bail and is being held at the Strafford County House of Corrections. He will be arraigned on August 31, 2026 in the 7th Circuit Court – District Division – Dover.
