There are many reasons to compete! Some Senior Games athletes want to beat their personal best or set a new age group record. For others, like Road Race athlete Sue Langley, The Games are about more than winning. Like many of her fellow competitors, Sue savors the camaraderie and social benefits.

Participating in Senior Games is a great way to build community, make friends and stay socially connected. Join us: desenior.games

Staying active through sports provides major health benefits to people ages 50+. Research from the Sustained Athlete Fitness Exam (SAFE) has found Senior Games athletes show fitness levels of people 10-20 years younger than their age!

Power Walk competitor Reggie Howze agrees. He reminds all of us that “Age ain’t nothing but a number!”

Senior Games athletes are rewriting the story of aging. 💪
They’re pushing back on old stereotypes and showing what strength, joy and determination look like. And the best part? Senior Games athletes are inspiring all of us to get moving, challenge ourselves and keep proving what’s possible.

Congrats to Delaware Senior Games athletes who are setting the bar!

Outstanding Volunteer Award

Pete Geisler - Peter has been involved in DSO’s Senior Group Challenge since 2006. He tells us that it started as a “singles” group – rather than going to happy hour, his group started going on hikes. Fast forward more than 15 years. Peter coordinated multiple hikes throughout the year, typically drawing more than 100 people. In the friendly Senior Group Challenge, Peter’s group is hard to beat; they often win the award for the highest number of miles walked as a group. Coordinating the hikes and tracking miles is a volunteer activity near and dear to Peter’s heart. He put in several hours each week spreading the word about the program and recruiting new walkers. Peter truly believes in Fun, Fitness and Fellowship.
