I would like to express my appreciation to everyone that acknowledged another year of existence for me hear on God's creation.

One of the cards I received said "Happiest Birthday Ever." Ironically, it just may have been. Happiest because I am humbled by the acknowledgements and Happiest because it enabled me to touch base with so many "Friends."

Some of these friends I haven't seen in 40 or 50 years (conservatively speaking). I still consider them as friends, because "true" friendships aren't diminished by the lapse of time or separation by any amount of distance.

To quote a phrase from Maya Angelou and the the Southern Gospel singers Happy Goodman Family, "I wouldn't give nothing for my journey now."

These "Friends" are from youth baseball, high-school, college, military, family and life in general.
Each name conjures up fond memories and special occasions that are all mine and all theirs and ours alone.

I once again want to thank each and everyone of you for your friendship.

BE BLESSED

Dover! It's Time for Change

11/03/2023

Dover was a great place to grow up.

11/02/2023

( NOTE: This is a letter I received early on in my campaign. I just thought I would share it with you. It's thoughts like these and conversations like this that keep me going. It's all about You Dover)

I grew up in Dover, first on Washington Street and then out on North Walnut Street.
I can’t imagine a more nurturing and welcoming community than the town where I grew up.
In my view, that as changed, and Dover is now a petty, mean and bickering, and almost
hostile city. We should be integrating our immigrant residents into the fabric of our
community, and uplifting the spirits of all our people.
Over the years, I have enjoyed flat out bragging about the kids who came out of our special corner of the world—athletes, scholars, artists and inventors. There was a lively zeitgeist—and camaraderie—palpable and memorable!
I can still vividly recall sitting in Scotty Hutras grandma’s kitchen eating pizza—sometimes at lunch from school, sometimes after a ball game. This grandma was Mary Zifer!
I recall sitting on Larry Dinolfo’s patio after football games, getting older and drinking beer at Limby’s or the Ringside of the Grandview. But the vibe was never about those places—IT WAS ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF DOVER!
Our patch of Appalachia is blessed with natural beauty and historically kind, gentle and very hardworking folks. Frankly, these……just don’t have a clue what our town was in the past and what it can be in the future.
I have gotten to know you personally, only recently. But as I told you, I remember when our eighth grade football team took a trip to Capital University to watch you play football. That was a big thrill. You, Paul Huff and P*e Wee Morrow and the Trustdorfs, etc, etc were big heroes of mine growing up in Dover.
Thanks for those memories and I’m hoping and praying you can overcome the negativity and vitriol so pervasive these days, and lead us forward in recapturing the spirit of Dover.

Best wishes,

Dear Sirs, October 24, 2023

I am writing this letter in support of Colbert Byrom's candidacy for mayor of Dover. While I am not currently a resident of Dover, I spent my first 18 years in Dover and graduated in 1968. I have since spent 30 years as an Emergency Department physician in New Bedford MA, and frequently come home to vacation in the area where my mother resides.

I have known Colbert since we were both 14 years old and began to play football together on the Dover 7th, 8th, 9th, Jr Varsity, then Varsity teams. I beleive that you truley learn a person's personality and character when growing up together and experiencing life's high's and bumps in the road together.

Despite weighing 135 pounds soaking wet Colbert was a fearless player who thought nothing of taking on players 30, 40 or 50 pounds heavier. He did so quietly without bragging or boasting. He just did his job and led by example. In fact he gave his teammates the confidence that they could do things that we did not think were possible. Throughout his career his biggest moments occured in the most dire circumstances. He was respected and admired by all of his teammates and fellow students.

Following high school, Colbert was awarded a scholarship to Capital University in Columbus where he played football for four years, graduated with degrees in communications and later accounting at Valdosta State. According to fellow teammates from Dover he was as beloved and respected at Capital as he was in Dover.

After college he served in the Air Force. He began his work career as an auditor for the IRS, then the state of Louisiana where he investigated large non-compliant tax evaders. He then moved back to Dover where he served
as a Treasurer for the Muskingum Conservancy and then for our city of Dover.

While it is apparent that he has a strong financial background, what is even more impressive is his humanity, and involvement in community service of people from all walks of life in Dover and Tuscarawas County.
- Tuscarawas County commitee on aging (senior center board) -2 term past president
- Alcohol drug and Mental Health service board -2 term past president
- Former board member of Horizons
- Member of Tuscarawas County Corrections Planning Board
- Member of Dover High School Finance Committe
-Member of Dover High School Tornado Club & recent inductee into the Dover High School Hall of Fame

In the 60 years that I have know Colby, I have never heard him raise his voice, slander or ridicule another person.

I beleive he will be able to develop consensus from different groups in our community.
He has the ability to relate to people of all socio-economic backgrounds. He is a terrific listener and has the judgement to make good decisions which will benefit all of his constituents . He will be a great role model for our youth, a secure presence for our seniors, and help to provide hope for those less fortunate in our community.

Respectfully Submitted, David R Fuerman DO
