The Town of Dover is a welcome destination for hikers, bikers and weekend sightseers who enjoy breathtaking vistas and nature enthusiasts to fish for their own “catch of the day” in the trout-stocked Ten Mile River. Dover’s history is steeped in hospitality- from General Washington’s war-time visits to Wingdale to the cattle drovers’ lodging at Old Drover’s Inn in Dover Plains. Nowadays, Dover’s

hospitality thrives in the restaurants, small businesses and community-caring character of its residents. A day trip to Dover is not complete without a visit to the “Stone Church” town park and cavern- a moderate-level one-mile walk from parking off Route 22 to an ancient rock grotto in the shape of a church’s cathedral window. Natural spring wells above the cavern create an awe-inspiring waterfall into the Stone Church Brook that flows to the Ten Mile River. Every “season” of visits to the Stone Church makes for a picture-perfect and memorable occasion. To enjoy your visit, be sure to wear water-tight shoes or boots and tick-resistant clothing. Sincere thanks to the Eastern Dutchess Road Runners and Town of Dover Lions Club that helped the Town officially open the new walking track at JHK Memorial Park yesterday. Additional improvements to the park this spring will include new lighting, construction of an open air pavilion and upgrades and new equipment for the children’s playground.

Using municipal COVID-19 recovery funds, upgrades to Dover Town Hall interior are on their way of completion with paint and new flooring. Other projects will include a new highway vehicle and equipment storage facility and new multi-purpose recreation program building at Boyce Park.
