Good morning,
As most of you know, early, in-person voting begins today, October 15th. There have been questions about the Republican candidates on a local/state level.
For County Commission Chair, Caesar Gonzalez
For County Commissioner, District 2, Melody Wilcox
For County Coroner, Robert Jones
For House District 64, Cassaundra Burks
For House District 4, Kimberly Rainwater New
State Senate, Tim Beardon
For Congress, Brian Jack.
I have also attached the info on some other items on the ballot. Do you know that more Democrats than Republicans will hit the polls and vote?
Do you know that many "Christians" don't vote?
Do you know many out there don't believe their vote makes a difference?
Do you know there are many who are homebound who don't take advantage of their voting options?
Do you know that many people ONLY vote for the Presidential election and skip the local/state options?
If you know of someone in one of the above categories, chat with them. Offer them a ride. Help them understand their options.

It's been a very long and busy summer for us. Like many, inflation is making us have to work more to pay bills and feed livestock. We can't afford another year like this one. Like many of you, when things break, we struggle to pay for repairs. We keep the air 4-5 degrees warmer this summer to help with the electric bill. We have to be careful with the fuel we use. We've had to downsize and sell some much-needed horses for our programs. I'm not complaining. I am so very thankful for the many blessings we have! I'm only bringing this to you because if things continue the way they are going, we are going to be in a precarious place with livestock. The recent storm destruction has also hit our farmers hard. Many have lost entire crops, their equipment, and their livestock. That alone will drive up the cost of food. The cost of diesel dictates the cost of many items, as trains, trucks, and boats rely on diesel. Keep these things in mind when voting. I don't know about you, but four more years will most likely end our programs here. Remember that our local politics will affect us, as well. We cannot afford to have people "serving" us whose votes are swayed by friends, family, money, or favors. Make sure you are voting for the person you believe will best represent Douglas County and not just for a political party.

For those asking about our Small Town Business Showcase videos, we have not forgotten our small businesses! The person who put those together for us is ill. He is struggling with health issues. His computer also crashed so he no longer has the ability to put them together. The videos were free, and he volunteered his time to edit and put these together for us. As this is a free service, we cannot afford to pay an editor to do them. Hopefully, in the future, we can begin doing them again! I truly enjoyed doing them!

I will vote today. I have to leave to go out of town on Wednesday, and I want my vote to be in before I leave!

Above all of this, Pray. I honestly believe that however the November election plays out (Presidential), things could get ugly. Remember what happened in 2016. Pray for our country. Pray for unity. Pray for peace. Pray that God gives us all the Wisdom to deal with whatever the outcome is. Only we can be the change. Pray for guidance. Pray for our leaders. Above all this, love.

I may be running for D-2 commissioner but my goal is to serve all of Douglas County. We have so much fun! Recently we had the opportunity to work with Up Giving Village and fellow candidate
Cassaundra Burke (Georgia State House district 64) on a children with disabilities party, the horses got to visit a senior center in Douglas County, and some adults with disabilities group homes! And of course, there was the annual Fourth of July parade! It’s been a fun and busy summer and it’s not over yet! Thank you to everyone who steps up and helps make these days possible!

I apologize for the abrupt ending! I forgot to put my phone in airplane mode and I got a phone call right at the end that stopped the video. But I figured that was as good a place to stop as any! Please click on the link for the upcoming BOC/zoning meetings. The dates are there. Let’s stand together and support our community.

The last informational hearing was the biggest one they had ever had but we still need more to stand up and say “No!” Our schools and infrastructure cannot handle anymore at this point in time. You can make a difference BUT you have to be willing to show up and make your voice heard…literally. Stand up and speak out! This is regarding the McKinley homes townhomes on Bright star Road.

Checking in and joint BOC Zoning meeting

06/28/2024

If you’re tired of all the continued mass building in Douglas County…
The next planning and zoning meeting is July 9th, at 6pm in the Douglas County Courthouse in the Citizen’s Hall, at the Courthouse, on Hospital Drive. This will be voting on proposals for building and zoning. If we want change, we must make our voices heard.

Might want to sit and relax. This may take a minute…

It light of all the negativity with some of our politicians, rumors of wars and the rising cost of everything…. I want to take just a moment to remind you that despite politics, beliefs, skin color, or financial status, this county has come together in many areas that we may not be aware of. I get so frustrated and don’t understand why some folks try to keep us divided by the above things. Things don’t make us who we are. Only our heart makes us who we are and only God can judge our hearts. I want to give a shout-out to those of you who have good hearts. Hearts to give back. Hearts to love your neighbors, hearts to try and make life easier for children and others that may be in need. You are the glue that binds this community.

We all get discouraged. We get angry. But what we really need to get is unified. “They” can’t tear us apart unless we let them. Don’t let others control your emotions. If you do, they win. Keep on keeping on. Keep loving. Keep giving back. Keep being involved. Keep praying and don’t sink to the level of those who try to undermine and divide.

I am going to share with you just a little bit of what YOU as a community, have done. You stepped up in a big way and helped those who were affected by that terrible fire. You gave so much that we couldn’t take anymore. You donated clothing, kitchen items, gift cards, shoes, money and so much more.

You stepped up in a big way and helped a bunch of special needs and children with disabilities have an amazing day by providing donations and volunteering to help out a special needs rodeo.

You stepped up to help victims of abuse, and women in crisis, feed the homeless, and provide things for foster children.

You helped make it possible to bring a smile to senior citizens.

You helped make it possible to feed those in need.

You stepped up and donated to food banks and shelters.

You stepped up and donated to non-profits so they could continue to work.

YOU did that. This community did that.

Sometimes I look at all that negative in D’ville and forget there is so much positive. I will share a few pictures of some of the positives you helped make possible. Keep it up, my friends. Let’s continue to put aside our differences and come together in unity! I hope you enjoy these. Keep giving back and keep standing on truth…but do it in love.

Hey all! Here is a SPECIFIC need for one of the apartment fire families. I am strongly recommending gift cards to Walmart. That way they can get what they need. If you would like to donate a Walmart gift card please let me know or if you have any of these items feel free to bring them by the ranch. But please be specific now. We’ve had a bunch of stuff donated, but we don’t have a lot of these specific items.

I have a Large dog. Anything for her will be great.

I want to thank everyone who stepped up and donated for the families affected by the fire! Douglas County rocks! You all pulled through so much that we are absolutely bursting with donations! We don’t have room for anymore items! Thank you again for your overwhelming response! Any items not needed by the families will be offered to foster families, women in crisis and the homeless.

Fathers play the most important role in developing a child's self-esteem, ethics, morals and religious beliefs. I believe this is the reason the enemy is attacking and making fathers “ insignificant.” The way a father treats and relates to his daughter, will directly affect all of the relationships she has in the future. That relationship also greatly affects her self-worth. The way a father relates to his son will impact the kind of man he becomes. Don't get me wrong, mothers play a vital role but today's society often overlooks the need for a father. Being a father is so much more than donating s***m. So here's to all the fathers who aren't afraid to hug, console, discipline, spend time with, praise and teach their children to love Unconditionally. God is referred to as our father for all of those reasons. He set the ultimate example! I am thankful to have a husband who is both a father, and a father figure to many. His example, love and faith has made a positive impact on many kids. Are you a father or do you just have children? There is a difference. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!
