TWO TEENS ARRESTED AFTER GUNFIRE NEAR DOUGLAS COUNTY YOUTH CAMPUS

Two teenagers, ages 14 and 16, were taken into custody on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, after Douglas County deputies responded at approximately 3:15 p.m. to reports of armed juveniles near the Youth Villages Inner Harbour Campus off Dorsett Shoals Road.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, deputies heard four to five gunshots before locating the teens with a 9mm handgun. Investigators allege the teens were also connected to three home burglaries earlier that day.

Authorities said each teen faces three counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, three counts of burglary and a firearm possession charge. No injuries were reported.

The teens’ identities have not been released because they are juveniles.

🚨Escaped Douglas County Inmate Back in Custody

A Douglas County inmate trustee who escaped Thursday morning while assigned to work at the Sheriff’s Office car wash was taken back into custody later that afternoon.

Isaac Kindle left the facility around 9:30 a.m., prompting a multi-agency search involving local and federal law enforcement.

🍪 CRUMBL HAS CRUMBLED OUT OF DOUGLASVILLE!

It looks like it’s officially the end of the cookie road for Crumbl Cookies in Douglasville. A sign posted on the door says the location is permanently closed on August 31.

The mixers are sitting idle. The cookie trays are empty. The ovens are cold.

But here’s the question…

Douglas County Museum receives a one-year lease

An article in the Douglas County Sentinel reported that the Douglas County Board of Commissioners has granted the Douglas County Museum of History and Art a new one-year lease, giving the museum an opportunity to reorganize and establish a plan for its future.

The lease requires museum officials to pursue funding through grants and donations and develop plans for governance, operations, artifact preservation, oral histories, and long-term financial sustainability.

Douglas County, GA- According to a news release today from the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, a Douglas County jury found Darlita Lynette McKeever guilty Aug. 28 of five counts of theft by taking, four counts of identity fraud and two counts of theft by deception.

Douglasville Police Seek Man Accused of Indecent Exposure at Hobby Lobby

The Douglasville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man accused of exposing himself inside the Hobby Lobby on Chapel Hill Road.

Investigators report the incident occurred during the early afternoon of July 29. The suspect was seen leaving the area in a newer-model silver Ford Mustang.

DC Museum Board Chair Responds to Claims, Seeks to Correct Public Record

Following recent discussions surrounding the Douglas County Museum, DC Museum, Inc. Board Chair Chris Usry-Arnold is responding to several claims and questions about the museum’s finances, collections, operations and future.

The museum says it wants to correct what it considers misinformation and provide residents with its side of the story.

A recent post on the Doulgas County Museum History and Art page announced that the museum’s lease will be on the agenda. The meeting is scheduled for TOMORROW August 31st. The post encourages people to ‘Show up and support your Museum, Citizens Hall in the new Courthouse @ 10 AM.’

🌶️ Cultural Arts Council Expands Annual Chili Cook Off for 30th
Year

The Cultural Arts Council’s annual Chili Cook Off returns for its 30th year with a new name, a new location and even more fall fun. This year’s Chili Cook Off and Fall Festival will feature chili tastings, a haunted house, costume contest, arts and crafts vendors, sweet treats and more on Saturday, Oct. 17. 🍂

And for the first time, winning chili cooks can take home cash prizes!
