Our 2025 Golf Tournament was a huge success. We had an amazing crowd of golfers and some very generous sponsors this year and couldn't have done it without you. We raised a lot of money for the local community and saw a lot of familiar faces as well as a bunch of new faces. We are going to be talking more about our sponsors over the next couple of months but I wanted to send a big post tournament thank you out to all the companies that supported us. Particularly, a huge thank you to .S. Garber & Sons, Inc who was not only our big sponsor this year but they showed up and handed out ice cold bottle water and stuck around for dinner.

If you don't know who or what we are, the Lions Club is a service organization that puts on fundraisers throughout the year and then donates the profits from those fundraiser right back to our community. Meetings include dinner so come hungry. The meeting starts at 7:00 but come a little early to mingle with the other members and grab a drink at the bar. We meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

🚒 Amity Lions Club Giving Spotlight: Monarch Fire Company

This week, we’re proud to shine a light on one of the volunteer fire departments serving our community: Monarch Fire Company Established in 1935 (and officially organized in 1936), Monarch Fire has faithfully served Amity Township—including areas like Baumstown, Douglassville, Monocacy Creek, Monocacy Hill, and Union Township—for nearly a century.
Monarch Fire Company is a volunteer-run institution, staffed by dedicated locals who are always ready to answer the call. They provide crucial fire protection, emergency response, fire prevention efforts, and valuable community outreach to keep us safe.

Additionally, they're active participants in regional emergency readiness initiatives—such as the South Eastern Berks Tanker Task Force and the Montgomery County Tanker Strike Force—enhancing their ability to respond swiftly to large-scale emergencies
The Amity Lions Club is honored to support Monarch Fire Company with annual donations that help ensure they have the equipment, training, and resources needed to protect our families, homes, and businesses. Their brave volunteers provide peace of mind and critical services 24/7—and our contributions are a small way to say “thank you” for everything they do.

This week, as part of our series on the organizations we proudly support, we’re honored to shine a light on AltruVision, a remarkable Philadelphia-based eye bank formerly known as the Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley.

AltruVision’s mission is deeply rooted in compassion and innovation — restoring and improving vision through cornea transplantation, cutting-edge medical research, and ongoing education. Since rebranding on July 1, 2023, this organization continues the legacy of service initiated by Lions Clubs International back in 1957.

Each year, AltruVision performs life-changing cornea transplants at no cost for patients who are underinsured or unable to afford them. They also extend their impact beyond our region through global initiatives—thanks to programs like their “Sadeer B. Hannush International Gratis Tissue Program,” they’ve enabled 55 free cornea transplants in countries like Rwanda and Kenya. And they remain on the forefront of vision care by investing in breakthrough technologies like lab-grown corneal grafts using OcuCell.

As Lions, we’ve always believed in giving the gift of sight—and AltruVision embodies that mission every day. It’s because of their unwavering dedication that people receive not just the ability to see again, but also a renewed sense of independence and hope. The Amity Lions Club is honored to contribute annually to this cause, helping ensure that the ability to pay never stands between someone and the gift of sight.
