Anyone traveling eastbound on I-78 Mile Marker 13.3 Bethel Township on todays date, April 10th 2026 between 11:00 – 11:20 this morning with dash cam video of the striking vehicle ( a white truck, traveling in the right lane, with heavy to moderate passenger side damage, missing a side mirror and metal mirror frame piece or the Victim’s vehicle a blue Volvo Tractor Trailer) please contact the State Police Hamburg barracks. 610-562-6885

The Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg Barracks are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on today’s date, 04/10/2026 at approximately 1115 hours on Interstate 78 eastbound at mile marker 13.3, Bethel Township, Berks County.
This crash occurred when a Blue Volvo Tractor Trailer was stopped on the eastbound shoulder of Interstate 78 at mile marker 13.3. The male operator of the tractor trailer was outside the truck fixing straps on its flatbed trailer. While along the shoulder and right lane, the male operator was struck by another truck, possibly a tractor trailer which would have been traveling in the right lane of Interstate 78 east. After impact, the striking truck continued east on Interstate 78. The male operator of the Blue Tractor Trailer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The striking truck, based on evidence at the scene was white in color with heavy to moderate passenger side damage. The truck will be missing the passenger side mirror and metal mirror frame piece.
Anyone who possibly witnessed the crash or has information related to the crash is asked contact Tpr. ZIMMERMAN of the Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg Barracks 610-562-6885.

Parents - If you have submitted an application for your child to attend the 2026 Camp Cadet class you should have already received an email with an interview date and other paperwork information. If you have not please advise. If so we will see you on the date/time of your interview. Please remember to bring all pertinent paperwork with you. Thank you!

Parents who have submitted your child's applications already should be receiving an email from us by early next week, containing interview dates and other pertinent information.

Parents - If your child has already graduated from Camp Cadet please do not submit another application for them. We do not re-cycle cadets. The Next opportunity they would have to be involved in Camp Cadet would be to become a Junior Counselor. J.C. applications for 2026 should be available shortly. We will advise when they are operational.
