Rest in Peace.

The Hockey Hall of Fame lost a family member with the passing of Cliff Fletcher on June 5, 2026. Cliff served on the Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors for seven years until 2002-03. He was also a member of the Hall’s Selection Committee for several years. In 2004, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Builder Category himself. He earned that honour from his lifetime in hockey. Starting with scouting positions with the Montreal Canadiens and St. Louis Blues organizations, he moved into a general manager role with the Atlanta Flames/Calgary Flames franchise where he earned a Stanley Cup championship in 1989. Twenty-five years as an executive with the Toronto Maple Leafs produced some of the most exciting hockey the franchise has enjoyed in recent memory. He added his experience to the Phoenix Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning as well.

His passion for the game he loved was shared with his son Chuck, who has three decades of NHL experience in senior management roles, and daughter Kristy, who spent many years with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. A third generation has now embraced his grandfather’s passion for hockey, as Owen works at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Hockey Hall of Fame extends its heartfelt condolences to Mr. Fletcher’s family and loved ones during this time of loss.

Congratulations to these young people !
