Dothan City Schools Empower Everyone Everyday

The Dothan City Schools Difference Maker campaign recognizes employees nominated by someone at their school for going above and beyond for our students, schools and community.

Our next Difference Maker is Evelyn Parker, assistant principal at Dothan High School! As a proud product of Dothan City Schools, Mrs. Parker has spent 25 years serving the Wolfpack and making students her “why.” She believes in showing up, going the extra mile and reminding every student and adult that they matter and their voice matters. Thank you, Mrs. Parker, for believing in our students and being a Difference Maker! 💙🐺

Today, Dothan Preparatory Academy celebrated its first-ever Connection Day, creating opportunities for students and families to connect with our school, our teachers, and valuable community resources.

Alongside parent-teacher conferences, families had the opportunity to engage with community partners, learn about resources available to support students, and strengthen the relationships that help our students thrive.

A special thank-you to SpectraCare, Boys & Girls Clubs Wiregrass, and Fortis College for joining us and investing in our students and families!

We’re proud to see our schools and community partners working together to help every student connect, engage, and belong. ❤️🐺

📚✨ Bringing learning to life at Carver 9th Grade Academy! After reading “A Long Walk to Water”, set in Sudan, students in Mrs. Peoples’, Mrs. Wesley’s, and Mrs. McCall’s classes sampled traditional Sudanese food, giving them another way to connect with the story and its culture. 🌍🍽️

Staff also got to enjoy the traditional cuisine! It was a fun and meaningful way to take learning beyond the pages and bring the story to life 📖

The Dothan City Schools Difference Maker campaign recognizes employees nominated by someone at their school for going above and beyond for our students, schools and community.

Our next Difference Maker is Denese Burt, secretary at Selma Street Elementary School! As she enters her 22nd year with Dothan City Schools, Ms. Burt knows that some of the biggest impacts can come from the smallest moments. From making a student smile to helping a parent or staff member, she is always looking for a way to make someone’s day a little better. Her commitment to being there for others and putting their needs first is a true reflection of what it means to be a Difference Maker. Thank you, Ms. Burt, for the heart you bring to Selma Street and Dothan City Schools each day! 💙🐺

When seconds mattered, Dothan High School’s School Resource Officers answered the call. After a grandmother called 911 because her seven-month-old grandchild was choking, she pulled into Dothan High School seeking help. Corporal Trenton Adams and Corporal Daniel Volkman of the Dothan Police Department responded immediately and began life-saving measures. The officers successfully cleared the infant’s airway as Dothan Fire Rescue and EMS responded to the scene.

We are incredibly grateful for Corporal Adams, Corporal Volkman, the 911 dispatcher, Dothan Fire Rescue and EMS for their swift, coordinated response. Their calm and courageous actions helped save a life.

Thank you for your service, compassion and commitment to our community. We are proud to have Corporal Adams and Corporal Volkman as part of our Wolf Pack! 🐺❤️
