🥵 Do You know the Signs of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke ?🥵

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are both heat-related illnesses, but heat stroke is a medical 🏥 emergency. 🆘

Signs of Heat Exhaustion:

Symptoms often develop gradually and may include:

* Heavy sweating
* Cool, pale, clammy skin
* Weakness or fatigue
* Dizziness or lightheadedness
* Headache
* Nausea or vomiting
* Muscle cramps
* Fast, weak pulse
* Fainting

What to do:

* Move to a cooler place.
* Loosen clothing.
* Sip cool water or a sports drink if the person is alert.
* Apply cool, wet cloths or take a cool shower.
* Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen, last more than an hour, or the person cannot keep fluids down.

Signs of Heat Stroke (Emergency)

Symptoms may include:

* Body temperature of 104°F (or higher)
* Confusion, unusual behavior, slurred speech, or agitation
* Loss of consciousness
* Seizures
* Hot skin (may be dry or still sweaty)
* Rapid, strong pulse
* Severe headache
* Nausea or vomiting

What to do immediately:

1. Call emergency services (911 in the U.S. or your local emergency number).
2. Move the person to a cooler area.
3. Cool them rapidly with cold water, ice packs (neck, armpits, groin), or fans.
4. Do not give fluids if they are confused, unconscious, or unable to swallow safely.

Key Difference

* Heat exhaustion: person is usually alert and sweating heavily.
* Heat stroke: mental status changes (confusion, fainting, unconsciousness) and/or very high body temperature.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 111 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Alabama, Panhandle Florida, and south
central and southwest Georgia.

* WHEN...From 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ this morning to 8 PM EDT /7 PM
CDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Drink 🥤 plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned 🥶 room, stay out of the sun ☀️ , and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, OSHA recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
