Twenty-five years later, we remember the courage, compassion, and unity shown in the face of unimaginable loss.

Meet Sebra Barcuis, MSN, RN, R-CCM, BCPA — one of our Supervising Registered Nurses!

Sebra brings years of experience across nursing, community health, case management, care coordination, and patient advocacy.

At CFoB, she helps ensure our clients receive safe, high-quality, person-centered care while our Homemakers and Home Health Aides receive the clinical support and oversight they need.

But Sebra’s commitment to care doesn't stop at CFoB. She is also a Long-Term Care Ombudsman, volunteers with the Alzheimer’s Association, and serves on the Boston Medical Center Patient & Family Advisory Council.

🎙️ She also hosts The Mindful Aging Show on WBCA 102.9 FM.

🌱 And when she's off the clock? She enjoys creating plant-based meals focused on healthy aging.

This Labor Day, we’re celebrating the people whose dedication, compassion, and hard work help keep our community strong.

At Caribbean Foundation of Boston, care happens in many ways and takes many people. From our Home Health Aides and nurses providing care in the home, to our care coordinators, administrative, finance, billing, and support teams working behind the scenes—every role matters.

September: Refocus. Reconnect. Keep Moving Forward. đź’™

September brings a shift. Summer winds down, children head back to school, and we return to our routines with renewed focus.

As we enter the final months of 2026, I encourage you to take a moment to recognize how far you've come. Revisit your goals. Celebrate your wins. If you've encountered a few roadblocks along the way, acknowledge them—and keep moving forward.

At Caribbean Foundation of Boston, we're doing the same.

We're settling into our new home, welcoming new clients, growing our team, reconnecting with community partners, and preparing to restart our Home Health Aide Training Program this fall.

For 53 years, CFoB has provided compassionate, culturally responsive home care to our community, helping older adults and individuals live safely and independently at home.

There is so much ahead, and we're excited about what's next.

This Summer @ CFoB 🌞💙

It’s been a busy and exciting summer at Caribbean Foundation of Boston!

From settling into our new home on Blue Hill Avenue and celebrating our ribbon cutting, to investing in our HHA team through ongoing training and showing up for our community partners—we’ve been growing, connecting, and building for the future.

This summer, we:
🏡 Celebrated our new office and the next chapter of CFoB
✂️ Hosted our ribbon cutting and welcomed community partners
👩🏽‍⚕️ Continued professional development and training for our HHA team
🇯🇲 Supported Boston’s Jamaican Independence Day celebration

What does quality home care look like behind the scenes?

It looks like training, learning, and continuous growth.

Our Home Health Aides recently came together for an in-service training session as part of our ongoing commitment to professional development, required training standards, and quality care.

While our clients experience the care our HHA team provides in their homes, there is important work happening behind the scenes to ensure our caregivers stay prepared, knowledgeable, and equipped to support the unique needs of the older adults and families we serve.

At CFoB, we believe investing in our caregivers means investing in the people and communities we serve. đź’™

A Message from Our CEO

For more than 50 years, Caribbean Foundation of Boston has been committed to strengthening our community through compassionate, culturally responsive care, service, and support.

Over the past several months, our team has been intentional about strengthening our organization, building on the strong foundation that came before us, and preparing CFoB for its next chapter.

Today, I’m excited about where we are headed.

Our focus is clear: expand our reach, deepen our community partnerships, grow the number of individuals and families we serve, and make sure more people know who we are, what we do, and how we can help.

As we move forward, we remain grounded in the legacy that has brought us here while embracing new opportunities to grow, connect, and serve.

I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead—not only this year, but for the years to come.

August is National Wellness Month, and while we’ve already been celebrating wellness this month, it’s an important conversation to keep going—especially when it comes to our older adults.

Wellness at every age can look different. For older adults, it can mean staying active, eating well, maintaining social connections, keeping up with medical appointments, taking time for mental well-being, and having the right support to remain safe and independent at home.

At Caribbean Foundation of Boston, we believe caring for the whole person means supporting not only physical health, but also dignity, independence, connection, and quality of life.

Because wellness isn't just about adding years to life—it’s about helping make those years healthier, safer, and more fulfilling. 💙

🤝 Community is about showing up for one another.

When Mark and the Future Chefs team supported Caribbean Foundation of Boston at our ribbon cutting in July, they showed us what true community partnership looks like.

So on Wednesday, the CFoB team was happy to return that support by stopping by the Future Chefs Summer Lunch Pop-Up! đź’™

We enjoyed a delicious lunch while supporting an incredible organization that invests in Boston's young people and helps them build valuable culinary, professional, and life skills.

We're proud to support our community partners and the important work they do.

When we support one another, our whole community grows stronger. 🙌🏽
