Judicial nominations like buying 'pig in a poke'.

And that is just fine with Massachusetts Governor Councilor Thomas Merigan, 8th District, who said at a hearing today that he advises judicial nominees to NOT answer questions from the public interest group The Fatherhood Coalition. The group routinely asks nominess about their judicial philosophy concerning due process and constitutional protections in restraining orders.

Councilor Merrigan believes such questions presented to nominees, who once approved to the bench are seated for life and impossible to remove, as too 'loaded'.



Nominee applications are secret until after approval. Councilor Merrigan apparently thinks Massachusetts residents should be content with this 'pig in a poke' method of judicial appointments.
