The current physical facility was built in 2004.

The Dolores Public Library functions as a traditional public library – providing both print and digital information. The Library plays a leading role in the community as a meeting place, a technology/training center, and a place to just relax and read. The facility is conveniently located near the local schools and the post office and is just off the major highway running through the town. Collect

ion and Materials
The Library’s collection as of July 2022 is 22,080. The Library is a member of a consortium that allows for interlibrary loans (borrowing books from other libraries). Community Outreach/Programs
The Library offers the community a wide range of promotional activities and programs. These include:
• Story Time
• Summer Reading Program
• After-school programs
• Book club

Other programs, classes, training sessions, and various workshops and seminars are being developed for future opportunities. Equipment/Technology
Technology is essential for the Library’s operations and community outreach and programs. There are 13 computer workstations available for the community, as well as several laptops. The Library has two T-1 lines and free WIFI. Other public services equipment includes a fax machine and copier. Funding
The Library’s primary source of funding is property tax (82%), and a mill levy.

Tomorrow!!!! Join us on June 3rd at 6 PM as he debuts his newest book, Great Sand Dunes Massacre.
We’ll have themed refreshments, immersive ambiance, and plenty of mystery in the air. Will our community room transform into Great Sand Dunes National Park? Will there be an escaped murderer on the loose? You’ll just have to come find out! We’re also thrilled that local author Chuck Greaves will be joining us to interview Scott as part of the evening’s event.

Wildfire season is quickly approaching and now is the time to prepare. Join us on May 9th at 12:00 PM for an informative and practical session with Celeste Moore of Wildfire Adapted Partnership.

Celeste will share clear, actionable steps you can take to get ready, including how to reduce wildfire risks around your home, create defensible space, and plan ahead to keep your loved ones safe. You’ll also learn how individual actions contribute to a safer, more resilient community.

Whether you’re new to wildfire preparedness or looking to strengthen what you already know, this session will offer valuable insights and resources you can put to use right away. We hope you’ll join us to learn how to better protect your home, your family, and your community.
