Iowa County 4-H Attends Summer Camp

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – Iowa County 4-H members recently joined youth from Portage and Waupaca counties for an unforgettable summer camp experience at Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center in Wisconsin Dells. From June 15–17, 2026, a total of 67 campers, 9 teen counselors, and 13 adult volunteers and staff spent three days and two nights exploring the outdoors, building friendships, and developing leadership skills through a variety of hands-on activities.

Throughout the three-day experience, campers earned “Clover Coins” by demonstrating positive behavior, helping others, showing leadership, and contributing to the camp community. On the final day, campers used their earned coins at a camp carnival, where they played games and won prizes, providing a fun and rewarding conclusion to the camp experience.

“Camp provides youth with opportunities to try new things, make new friends, and develop life skills that will serve them well into the future,” said Iowa County 4-H Youth Development Educator Dan Brandt. “Watching young people grow in confidence and leadership throughout the camp experience is one of the most rewarding parts of 4-H.”

The Iowa County 4-H program would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Dodgeville for helping support local youth by assisting with transportation costs to and from camp. Their generosity helped make the camp experience more accessible for Iowa County families.

A special thank you also goes to Upland Winds for their financial support of the camp program. Their contribution helped keep the trip affordable and ensured that more youth could participate in this valuable educational and recreational opportunity.
