The Baltimore Banner has published a new feature by reporter Giacomo Bologna about a little-known chapter of September 11, 2001: 78 passengers aboard US Airways Flight 29, bound from Baltimore to Los Angeles, were mid-air when the attacks began. Their plane was diverted to Garden City, Kansas, and the passengers were then shuttled to Dodge City.

The article follows Maura Dwyer, one of those passengers, as she prepares to return to Dodge City for the town's annual 9/11 memorial. It's been 25 years since residents there took in her and her fellow stranded travelers with meals, lodging, and an unforgettable rendition of the national anthem.
