Congrats to Shawn Steiner, Athletic Director at Dodge City High School, on being named the KIAAA - Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association AD of the Week!
A graduate of Claflin High School, Steiner has been a fixture at Dodge City High School for more than two decades. After playing football at Garden City Community College, where he earned Academic and Athletic All-American honors, he continued his playing career at Fort Hays State University before completing his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University.
Steiner joined Dodge City High School 22 years ago and has served in a wide range of roles including business teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, activities director, and now athletic director. His background also includes coaching football for 11 years, wrestling for three seasons, and ninth-grade baseball for three seasons.
Widely respected across the state, Steiner has earned multiple honors including KWCA Administrator of the Year, the KIAAA Art Newcomer Promising AD of the Year, and the NIAAA State Award of Merit. He has also served as tournament host and manager for numerous KSHSAA state events and was KIAAA President for the 2023–24 school year.
“Being the Athletic Director at Dodge City High School is a privilege,” Steiner says. “I want to keep building on the great tradition here and create special experiences for our kids and community.”
Steiner and his wife, Heather, have two children, Tatum and Easton.
