Surry County is one of the largest counties in North Carolina. Many groups such as organized departments, youth associations, civic clubs, and community recreation committees work to provide recreation for our citizens. The mission of Surry County Parks and Recreation is to improve the quality of life in Surry County and to be regarded as an exceptional service organization by ensuring that opportunities exist for the enjoyment of recreation, culture, and the natural environment.

We are SO excited to finally show off this year’s Running the Vines 5K/10K finisher medals AND age group awards! 🍇💜

Every 5K/10K runner earns a beautiful finisher medal at the finish line — and our overall and age group winners will take home something extra special too! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🍷

These medals are ready for vineyard miles, happy finish line photos, and a well-earned wine tasting at Shelton Vineyards. 😉

🥏Fisher River Park Disc Golf Course is back open🥏

All uprooted and fallen trees have been removed, and any broken baskets have been repaired. We’ll continue working throughout the summer to make more improvements and keep the course in great shape.

We had an AMAZING day at the Special Olympics Spring Games at Surry Central High School last Friday! ☀️🎉 The weather was absolutely perfect, and our athletes brought the energy, excitement, and smiles all day long! 💙🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

From competing in track and field events to enjoying all the fun at Olympic Town, it was a day full of joy, determination, and celebration! 🥇🎈

A HUGE thank you to our incredible volunteers, sponsors, agencies, schools, and teachers—this event wouldn’t be possible without your support! 🙌
