We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our librarian, Lacey Teague, for all of the hard work and time she put into coordinating the Dixon Citywide Garage Sales happening today through tomorrow. From organizing participants to creating and distributing the garage sale map, her efforts helped make this community event possible.

On behalf of the Mayor, the Board of Aldermen, and the entire City of Dixon, thank you, Lacey, for your dedication to our community and for helping bring residents together for a great event.

This week, we proudly recognize our incredible Public Works Department during National Public Works Week 2026: “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community.”

Our Public Works team works tirelessly behind the scenes every day to keep our city running smoothly by maintaining streets, utilities, parks, equipment, and responding whenever the community needs them. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

A special thank you to Public Works Supervisor Nathaniel Cox, Assistant Supervisor Vince Rivera, Shane Hogshooter, Darren Gill, and Jeff Crane for the long hours, hard work, and pride you take in serving our community each and every day.

This year's theme, "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community," perfectly reflects the work our Public Works Department does daily by serving the community with dedication while helping power the growth, safety, and success of our city.

Please join us in thanking these outstanding employees during National Public Works Week!

Huge shoutout to the Jessie E. McCully Memorial Library for receiving a $10,000 grant through the American Library Association’s Libraries Transforming Communities initiative! 👏📚

This is an incredible accomplishment and a true reflection of the hard work and dedication Lacey and Lizzie put into serving the Dixon community. Stop by the library to see all the progress being made through the grants received over the past few years and to learn about the many services they provide to our community. They are truly a huge asset to Dixon!

We are so excited to share that we are a recipient of the American Library Association Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities initiative. As a $10,000 award recipient, Jessie E. McCully Memorial Library will now become a stronger community resource for all residents. We want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing Public Works Department for all of their hard work and dedication to the City of Dixon! 👏

Over the past few months, our crew has completed several projects that are making a big difference in our community:

• Built a new walking bridge at Sheppard Park to help residents safely cross from field to field
• Constructed beautiful new chambers for the Mayor and Aldermen for City Council meetings at City Hall following the recent floor refinishing project due to water damage
• Replaced the old, dilapidated timbers along the Lion’s Club Park walking trail where erosion was affecting the pathway
• Installed railroad ties around playground equipment to improve both safety and appearance

No matter the project, our Public Works crew is always hard at work and takes tremendous pride in keeping our town looking its best. Their dedication, craftsmanship, and commitment to the community do not go unnoticed.

We appreciate everything you do for Dixon! Thank you for helping keep our town in tip-top shape! ❤️

Today, on Administrative Professionals Day, we want to recognize the three ladies at Dixon City Hall who help keep our city up and running — our City Clerk, Deputy City Clerk, and Collector.

Not only do they handle the day-to-day operations that keep the city moving, but they also do it with kindness, professionalism, and a welcoming attitude. Their friendly personalities and outstanding customer service make a difference to everyone who walks through the doors or calls City Hall. Whether they are answering questions, helping residents, managing records, or processing payments, they always go above and beyond to assist the community.

Their hard work behind the scenes often goes unnoticed, but the City of Dixon is grateful for everything they do each and every day. Thank you for your dedication, positivity, and commitment to serving our residents so well!
