Congratulations to Firefighter/Paramedic Jimmy Perry on being named the 2026 Solano County Paramedic Provider of the Year!

Nominated by his peers and recognized during the Solano County Board of Supervisors meeting on May 12, Jimmy was honored for his exceptional service, leadership, commitment to patient care and dedication to the communities he serves.

Since joining the Dixon Fire Department in 2022, Jimmy has consistently demonstrated outstanding professionalism and compassion. A Solano County native and paramedic for the past six years, he takes great pride in helping others and making a positive difference in the lives of his patients during some of their most challenging moments.

We are incredibly proud to have Jimmy as part of the Dixon Fire Department family and grateful for the commitment, expertise and heart he brings to our team every day. Please join us in congratulating Jimmy on this well-deserved recognition! 👏🔥

Last week marked the successful completion of his probationary period with the Dixon Fire Department. This milestone reflects his hard work, dedication and commitment to serving our community.

A quick response can make all the difference.

Last week, Dixon Fire crews responded to a reported structure fire and arrived to find a fire burning in the backyard of a residence. Firefighters worked quickly to stop the fire’s spread and keep it from reaching the home, ultimately extinguishing the fire and protecting the home.

As temperatures rise and vegetation dries out, even a small fire can spread quickly. Taking a few extra moments to clear combustible materials and practice fire safety can help prevent incidents from spreading.

Congratulations to Engineer Grant Haynie on completing the Rock Tahoe Half Marathon! 🏃‍♂️🚒

Starting at Spooner Summit, the course drops more than 800 feet as runners wind along the stunning East Shore of Lake Tahoe before finishing at the lake. It’s no easy challenge, and Grant took it on with determination from start to finish.

Making the day even more special, retired volunteer firefighter Walt Bullock went out of his way to find Grant at the finish line and congratulate him in person.

🚒 Engine 381 and its four-person crew are currently assigned to Task Force 2201 in Napa County as part of a pre-positioning effort due to Red Flag weather conditions.

When fire weather creates an increased risk of wildfire, resources are strategically moved into high-risk areas before an incident occurs. This proactive approach helps ensure firefighters are in position to respond quickly when needed.

⚠️ Red Flag Warnings signal conditions that can support rapid fire growth. Everyone can help reduce the risk by avoiding activities that could create a spark and by following local fire restrictions.

Regional preparedness starts with teamwork and wildfire prevention starts with all of us.

Last night, the Dixon Fire Department had the honor of formally welcoming our two newest firefighters, Kyle Vaudrin and Wyatt Carroll. Both were officially sworn in and received their badges during the City Council meeting.

Kyle and Wyatt graduated from the fire academy on May 15 and have already begun serving the community on their assigned shifts. They join the Dixon Fire family with extensive paramedic experience, bringing valuable skills, dedication and a passion for public service to our team.

Becoming a firefighter is no small accomplishment and earning the privilege to serve a community is something to be proud of. We are excited to have Kyle and Wyatt as part of our department and look forward to watching them grow throughout their careers.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter/Paramedic Kyle Vaudrin and Firefighter/Paramedic Wyatt Carroll and wishing them success as they begin this next chapter with the Dixon Fire Department.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Their courage, service and dedication will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we always remember the true meaning behind the flag we proudly fly. 🇺🇸

At 4:56pm the Dixon Fire Department received a call reporting a structure fire on Porter Rd. north of Midway Rd. Dixon fire crews arrived on scene and located a second alarm fire that originated in an outbuilding and spread to an additional structure and nearby vegetation. The vegetation fire was roughly 1 acre in size.

Dixon Fire received support from eight surrounding agencies. Initial Dixon crews responded quickly to knock down the structure fire to prevent its spread to additional parts of the building. There are no injuries reported.

The fire has been extinguished and crews remain on scene to work on mop up. Please continue to avoid the area.

Last night, Dixon firefighters conducted a night auto extrication drill simulating a major vehicle accident involving trapped patients. Crews worked through a realistic rescue scenario using hydraulic rescue tools to remove the simulated victims from the vehicle while operating under nighttime conditions.

Once the patients were extricated, firefighters transitioned into simulated patient care, providing emergency medical treatment and preparing the victims for transport to the local trauma center.

Training like this helps crews sharpen their rescue skills, improve coordination under pressure and maintain readiness for real-world emergencies where every second counts.
