Dixfield, located in Oxford County, was incorporated on June 21, 1803 from a portion of the Holman Grant. Dr. Elijah Dix, a substantial landowner in the area, bought the town which bears his name. Dixfield is the 147th Town in the State of Maine.

ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to set September 15, 2026 or 45 days after taxes are committed, whichever date is later, and April 15, 2027 as the dates that property taxes are due and payable? Pass

ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to levy and accrue at the rate of 4% (four) percent per annum on property taxes that are unpaid from the respective due dates? (Note: Per Title 36, M.R.S.A. § 505.4, the maximum rate of interest that can be charged is seven and a half (7.50%); the Treasurer of State sets this rate each year) Pass

ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will authorize the Municipal Officers to use up to the sum of THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($300,000.00) from the UNDESIGNATED FUND BALANCE to reduce the tax commitment? Pass

ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Municipal Officers to dispose of property under such terms and conditions as they deem advisable, except that the Municipal Officers shall use the sale process required by 36 M.R.S. § 943-C? Pass

ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will adopt the following vote: The amount to be raised and appropriated for any departmental budget for the FISCAL YEAR 2027 that fails to pass by referendum vote shall be the same amount raised and appropriated for the prior fiscal year, unless the Select Board chooses to present a modified budget for that department to the voters in a subsequent referendum, until a modified budget then passes, or the Select Board chooses to call for a Special Town Meeting to present and vote on a modified budget for that department at said meeting? Pass

Voting is held at Dirigo High School, using the Nash Street entrance, from 8AM - 8PM.
We are still working out the details of whether or not the Town Office will be able to be open. If we are open, we will only have 1 clerk and will be short staffed.

A reminder that the Special Select Board meeting that was scheduled for today, Tuesday the 26th of May, has been cancelled.

Regarding Spring Clean Up, the crew may have to extend pick-up into next week for sections not in the center of town due to unforeseen circumstances. Residents may NOT put out more items. If your street has been picked up there will be no additional trips. Thank you.

Spring Clean-Up Notice
May 18, 2025 through May 22, 2026

ITEMS MAY BE PLACED OUT BEGINNING Saturday, May 16, 2026

All items shall be placed out by 6:00 am on Monday, May 18, 2026 for all areas of town.

No return pick-ups will be made.

Residents are encouraged to take their items to the Transfer Station themselves, if possible, and there will be no charge for disposal of any items. A current Transfer Station decal sticker is required on your vehicle and is available at the Town Office. Please call the Transfer Station at 364-3645 with any questions.

The Public Works Department will pick up the following items from occupied residential properties only in the town of Dixfield. Items must be placed along the side of the road and kept separate from other items listed.
The total amount of all items taken from each residence must not exceed one pickup truck load. Excess amounts will not be picked up.

Items to be picked up by Public Works and kept separated by type:
All Metals: Scrap metal and metal appliances, maximum of 1 refrigerator and 1 air conditioner per household.
Bulky furniture: Mattresses, rugs, window glass, doors or similar items.
Televisions & computer monitors
Wood: All wood must be cleaned from any roofing, flooring, or plaster. Maximum length is four feet. Pressure treated wood and railroad ties must be separated from plain wood.
Tires: Maximum of 4 tires per household. Only passenger car tires will be picked up.

Failure to follow directions will result in items not being picked-up!

The following items will NOT be picked up by Public Works:
Leaves, brush, sand, refrigerators with doors attached, automobiles, car batteries, commercial truck tires, skidder tires, propane cylinders, rocks, bricks, concrete, chemicals, paint, cardboard, firewood, tree stumps or demolished buildings

The following items may be brought to the Transfer Station:
Propane cylinders, rocks, bricks and firewood. Please call the Transfer Station at 364-3645 with any questions.

*All items shall be placed out by 6:00 am on Monday, May 18 for all areas of town. No return pick-ups will be made.*
