This photo of Dingmans Falls (High Falls) was taken on a glass plate negative by Dingmans Ferry photographer W.H. Allerton, in about 1911. Allerton made a career of landscape and portrait photography, taking group and individual portraits of visiting tourists, scenic vistas along the Delaware River, and especially the many waterfalls up and down the valley, including Dingmans Falls, Bushkill Falls, and the cascades at Childs Park. Several hundred of Allerton's rare glass negatives are still in existence, documenting the "golden age" of early 20th century tourism in the Pocono Mountains.
