17 first responders from across the state completed a ten-day long Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Technician training. During this extensive training, responders participated in 50 skills that are required by NFPA 470 and passed a 100-question test. All knowledge and skills technicians must know, from incident analysis to termination, are covered in depth. This includes hazmat chemistry, container identification, construction features, and leak points, as well as product control and decontamination operations. Congratulations to these responders for completing this training and helping make Michigan safer!
Are you a responder who is interested in becoming Hazmat Technician trained? If so, a few seats remain in the October training session. Check the comments section for details on how to sign up.
