🌿 Growing Health in Dillon County — what a success! 🌿

Our recent Growing Health program brought dozens of community members together to dig into the health benefits of growing and cooking with fresh herbs! 🌱

thanks to a generous gift from the South Carolina Coastal District Garden Club Justin Foxworth (Rural Health) and Carmen Ketron (Horticulture) teamed up to teach all about herb gardening - from the wellness perks of getting your hands in the soil to the joy of flavoring your meals with home grown herbs.

The best part? Everyone got to plant their very own "Sweet Tea" container garden — packed with fresh herbs to flavor their teas all summer long. Mint, basil, and lavender found new homes in pots ready to head out the door!

Thank you to everyone who came out, got a little dirt under their nails, and learned how good growing can be for both body and mind. 💚

COASTAL DISTRICT GARDEN CLUB COMMITTEE DONATES TO LOCAL YOUTH AND HEALTH PROGRAMS

The Coastal District Garden Club Meeting Committee donated the remaining funds from its meeting to the Dillon County Clemson Extension Growing Health and 4-H programs, with each program receiving $900.

In a thank-you letter to the committee, Elizabeth Snipes said the donation will help provide much-needed supplies, support enrichment activities, and make free 4-H memberships available to low-income families.

“These funds will help with much-needed supplies and for our enrichment programs and provide free 4-H memberships for low-income families,” Snipes said.
