The Dickson Police Department is committed to the protection of life and property within its jurisdiction. This is accomplished by each member of the Police Department and each citizen working together in the prevention of crime and disorder, and by enforcement of the laws, thus achieving community policing. The Dickson Police Department is committed to promoting an atmosphere of safety within the City of Dickson. The Police Department accomplishes this by providing high visibility patrols, aggressive law enforcement, a sincere response to each citizen’s request, establishing clear communication from the citizen to the Police Department, acting upon the citizen’s need for service, and maintaining a daily working relationship to minimize crime in our community.

🌟 Public Safety Resiliency Summit August 23rd-26th 2026 🌟

Sgt. Lindsey Javins and Mackenzie Alcorn, LCSW, recently attended the 5th Annual Public Safety Resiliency Summit in Albuquerque, NM, where public safety professionals gathered to focus on resilience, wellness, and crisis response. We are proud that they also presented "From Search to Structure," sharing their expertise with attendees from across the country. 👏🚔💙

"From Search to Structure: Building Systems That Prevent Su***de in First Responders" explored the shift from traditional methods to proactive systematic wellness frameworks. Moving beyond basic awareness, this session highlighted how agencies can combat cumulative stress, care for the person behind the badge, and build confidential peer resources to support first responders. This session also detailed the experience of establishing the foundation of the Dickson Peer Support Team and building a long-term culture of change to smash the stigma associated with mental health for first responders.

🚦Heads up, Dickson!🚦

Effective 9/11/2026: The city is implementing a change at the intersection of W. Walnut Street and S. Main Street.

The traffic light will be switched to flashing red lights, and the intersection will operate as a 3-way stop for 90 days. The traffic light will flash red in all directions. Drivers will need to treat the intersection as a three-way stop. After the 90 days, the traffic and safety data will be evaluated to confirm if the traffic light can be removed permanently.

A flashing red light works the same as a three-way stop.
