This is a great example of we encourage everyone to sleep with their bedroom doors closed. Please check out the UL videos on YouTube for the “Close Before You Doze” campaign. Strong work by Williamson Fire-Rescue.

No loss of life and minimal damage — fire officials said a closed bedroom door slowed down what could have been a serious blaze in Williamson County Wednesday morning.

The City of Dickson Fire Department would like to thank Colton and Garrett from CrossFit Engage for sharing the benefits of functional fitness with our crews. Physical fitness plays a key role in our ability to perform our tasks efficiently and effectively, and our members are always looking for ways to improve that both individually and as a crew.

This week marks the beginning of the Firefighter II portion of our Recruit Academy. Over the next month, recruits will concentrate on acquiring skills is areas such as public education, fire alarm and protection systems, incident command, advanced fire control, and rapid intervention. Seen here, recruits are practicing placing their SCBA masks and nomex protective hoods on while wearing their structural firefighting gloves. Drills like these provide the necessary skills to allow firefighters to place their SCBA masks on at the point of entry, maintaining their full field of vision as they move from apparatus to entry point. What seem like simple tasks, when performed efficiently and effectively, are what make our members great. If you see these four in the downtown area during their morning PT sessions, give them a shout. They are going to be valuable assets to our community!

As we begin EMS WEEK 2026 we want to recognize our department members, and the valuable services they provide to our residents and visitors. However, we also want to recognize those who provide that care once they arrive. These providers continue the care our personnel begin, allowing each patient their best possible outcome. The City of Dickson Fire Department would like to thank Dickson County EMS, Air Evac Lifeteam, and Vanderbilt LifeFlight for their commitment to our community.

It’s been a busy week for your City of Dickson Fire Department. The first photos are of the “Push In” ceremony held Monday for our new Quint 141. This tradition dates to the earliest days of the fire service, when horse-drawn steam wagons were detached and placed inside the station. The Quint was also “washed down” to demonstrate the cleaning of the wagon wheels prior to pushing them back in.

The next set of photos are of training B Shift completed this past Sunday with the new Quint 141. Prior to placing apparatus in service, crews spend hours outfitting the apparatus with equipment, and training to ensure efficient and effective operations.

The Department appreciates all those who have helped make training in the downtown area a reality. To the building owners permitting us to work on their roofs, thank you. The opportunities you’ve provided for our newer members is invaluable.

These events continue to showcase the Department’s commitment to those who entrust us with their support.
